Hi! My name is Taji Kumano, a son of a Japanese father (Takashi Kumano) and a Filipino mother. I am looking for my father for quite sometime now. I haven't seen him in person. All i have are letters from him addressed to my mom and their photos both in Japan and Philippines. I have messaged a couple of "Takashi Kumano" that i have seen on the internet but got no reply. If i am not mistaken, my father should be around 55-57 years old now.

Thank you very much. I am deaperately hoping for any reply and info about him.

Attached here are his photo and last known address 35 years ago.

The address appears to lead to here

1-chōme-9-19 Hosoechō, Shimonoseki, Yamaguchi 750-0016, Japan

Not 100% sure because the address is not completely legible and the zip code and building name is different. But nothing else in Shimonoseki seems to make sense.

Sorry I'm not in that area. Actually I'm not in Japan at all.

It could be him... what kind of work was he doing when he met your mom?

He was a manager in one of the resto bars there.

Now, i need someone to help me and go there and show the hotel manager guy the first photo above for confirmation.

If he doesn't wants me at all, i just meed his acknowledgement for the dual citizenship and that's it.

Do you have your father's name in kanji? That might help people to confirm that the address is correct.
Good luck with finding your father.

Oh, i dont speak and write japanese. Grew up in Philippines and studying one cost a fortune.

He worked in hospitality in the Philippines so that's a good sign that this could be the right person.
The guy at the hotel is named 熊野隆 (he's responding to the traveler's comments). He's responded as recently as 2021/9 so he's likely still there.
He also responds in English and works at an international hotel so he probably can speak some too.
You could try calling them or writing an email asking for the Manager, Mr. Kumano's, email address.

I tried to find more photos of the hotel manager but I didn't have any luck. I did find this photo but it's too close up!

No, he didnt work in the Philippines. He worked in Japan where he met my mom.

Yep, my pas english is quiet good, i have read all the letters he sent my mom, and in one of his letters, he was the one who named me "Taji".

I have emailed the hotel but still haven't got any reply.

I forgot to look up his first name. 隆 is commonly read as Takashi. So that's more corroborating evidence...
I truly hope you can make contact and that it works out well.

Thanks. I hope someone here is in Shimonoseki and can spare some time to help me. Thanks in advance everyone

mdchachi. How do you write my Taji Kumano in Kanji, i will add it as my third name in my accounts, just in case he will search it, i already did the Hiragana

I can't say for sure. You can search here. Type "Taji" and select the Names Dictionary. Most of the results are surnames but there are some possibilities.
Also, kanji isn't mandatory for Japanese names. Some are kana only.
