I still stick by the idea that he was drunk when he accidently hung himself.

There were obscure reports that he had an odd workout *due to his high cholesterol* and somehow he hung himself from trying it.

Realistically, I know this is not likely, but as a fan, who wishes to believe he didnt want to leave us, I believe it.

Oh, I think it was probably drunkenly decided. You know how some people get when they're drunk... want to die, be depressed, etc. I think it was something like that, but I can't really know.

Wo! I just found out that this Zilch band existed, so can someone inform me about this. Did Hide had two bands at the same time? So he sang in english in Zilch any reason? I downloaded a couple of songs and I would have to say that I like more Spread Beaver.

Many of the bandmembers in Zilch were British or American: Ray McVeigh (ex-Professionals), Paul Raven & Jaz Coleman (both ex-Killing Joke), Joey Castillo (ex-Danzig), Steve Jones (ex-Sex Pistols) etc.

I think their debut-album was to have a US-release, but after hide died it only got released in Japan (although it also did get an Asian release later).

A few of the Zilch songs are English language reworks from X-Japan songs and his solo-work:

Their debut album got a good remix-workover, which was released under the title BastardEYES. It features remixes by Charlie Clouser (Nine Inch Nails), Praga Kahn, Pitchshifter, Danny Saber (Black Grape), J (from Luna Sea), Shaun Ryder (Happy Mondays, Black Grape), Schaft.

Spread Beaver's I.N.A was also a member of Zilch. He was programmer for hide on all his solo-albums as well as the final X-Japan album Dahlia. On Bastard Eyes he also remixed a track together with Kaz and D.I.E. from Spread Beaver.

Zilch also released a second album, titled Skyjin, which wasn't very good. It featured great names though. Hide was dead, but they used a piece of guitarwork from him on one track. Paul Raven had left the band, but Ray McVeigh and Joey Castillo were still there. Luna Sea bassist J, took over Raven's spot and I.N.A. was still present as programmer. Guest artists included Ian Astbury (The Cult), Duff McKagan (Guns n' Roses) and even Ol' Dirty Bastard.
