Spread Beaver had more variety. Although I love the 3.2.1 album with Zilch, Psyence and Ja, Zoo are godly in comparison. More variety.
suzu: it depends how you are putting it. In Japanese, pop music = popular music. So theoretically, anything popular and Japanese can be considered J-pop and be correct.
Zilch:

Spread Beaver, definitely. I just like the music better. The music in Zilch was often really....sexual. But hide-sama's engrish was really good in Zilch. But I like Spread Beaver better. ^_^

You know, the sexuality in Zilch is why I prefer the work on that project.
And while Electric Cucomber may be a boss @ss song, Misery is still my favorite of all time. Its a bit of a paradox. I like Zilch better, but a song with Spread Beaver is my favorite. Kosher, still.

Not just the lyrical content, but the music itself of Zilch was much more basic, and primal.
The basslines were much heavier, and the bass itself is a huge turn on for me when I hear it. Plus the beats were just smashing, and hard beats *pardon the pun* turn me on.
Zilch's music as a whole, was sexier than Spread Beaver's.

Spread Beaver was hide's band. Like Gackt with GacktJOB. And Sugizo with The Spank Your Juice. Get it?
I prefer Spread Beaver. Zilch is a bunch of assholes who capitalize off of hide, years after his death. Plus I didn't like his work with Zilch too much.

I don't know of any hide fansites, sorry...
SB was started in um... 95 or 96, I believe, I'm really not sure on that. I have no idea on Zilch; but I believe it may have been 96-97. hide commited suicide by pretty much hanging himself. Other people will come along and say it was an accident, but come on. You can't accidentally hang yourself with a towel from the doorknob. It'd have to be really hard. But, that's just my opinion, so no need to get upset.
