What is your addiction and what does it cost you to keep it satisfied?
Mine is sitting in front of a computer all day, and it has costed me my physical appearance. :(

For About 50 Years......

I've been addicted to PEPSI!! It has stained and rotted my teeth and helped me be about 30 LBS over weight. I used to drink 10 or 12 bottles a day and now have cut it down to 1 or 2. I have quit it a thousand times and still always go back to it. It is deffinately my one true monkey on my back. When I die, I'm having my ashes put into a big 2 liter bottle of Pepsi.

holy canolli!
that's a lot of sugar!

My addiction is modern life. I don't know how long I would last in a jungle or living in a shed in the poorest parts of some poor country.

Not long I'd wager.

My biggest addiction is..well...flirting I guess. I do it all the time with people I know. When it comes to strangers I don't particularly flirt...sometimes...:D

Hey that isn't a bad addiction! 👍

My addictions?

Hmm...

-p0rn
-knowledge
-the computer/internet
-getting inside of peoples heads.
-money
-flirting
-linguistics
-jref.com
-food/water

i dunno whatever else the DSM would say.

it all cost time and effort. nothing more. i'm such a cheap 13astard.

But to truth was has it cost me??

Hmm, my sanity would be number 1.
Talking to over hundreds of people and getting inside of their head takes a lot of effort. You have to take on different personalities and eventually, you feel like god. lol

Linguistics takes a lot of time and effort. Jref.com helps a lot on that.

The computer/internet has somewhat made me mentally insane. The internet has been my world since age 13 and i've spent almost 4 hours a day on it since. I get withdrawls kind of. Where i want it. But being insane as i am, i'm tempted to through my laptop out of the window.

Money really doesn't do too much for me. It doesn't have too many bad side effects except the fact that my brother always stole it from me growing up so i've never had too much of a care for it, but i do like paying for stuff in odd change such as two dollar bills and dollar coins.

food and water is actually doing pretty good now a days. Bad side effects are liking the wrong foods (carbohydrates/sugars) But i've been on lowcarb and i've lost weight. I can drink up to a gallon of water a day usually.

P0rn is a bad addiction. It creates a lot of paranoia when you live in a house with other people. Always deleting history, deleting cookies. Takes up a lot of time.

:gulp: Ok, I'm a drunk (surprised no one listed that yet). I play in a band three times a week and we always go out drinking afterwards.

:smoke: I smoke (although I don't think I'm quite addicted to it, because I don't
smoke all the time).

Women. Ah, those beautiful women.

(Man, I'm really making myself sound like a low-life here.)

Afterwards? You mean you wait until after you play to drink? Don't worry, you don't sound like a low-life, at least not to me. One of my friends spent years playing in a band, drinking everyday (to the point that he was say to himself, "let's see, I had gin and tonics yesterday, today I think I'll have Guiness."), smoking a lot (like having contests with other band members to see who had smoked the most), sleeping late, and just not caring about most things in general.

When I was in a band, I would drink during set-up, the show, the break, and tear-down. I also smoked on the way to gigs, and all through the drinking time, on the way home, when I got home, etc. So if you're a low-life because of that, then I'm (well, at least I was) in worst shape than you, and my friend had both of us beat!

Uh, haha. I wonder who you could be talking about, though.... :?

I'm addicted to my computer, to cola (but i manage to only drink it on the weekends) and to good food (gahr, if i don't stop eating so much fat i'm gonna get fat).

Yup, I'm only a slave to other people as well. There is the issue recently of 2 liters of Dr Pepper a week instead of 1, which suddenly doesn't seem so much of a psychological addiction compared with some others here.

Addictions? Caffiene and sugar. The internets (there's rumors out there).

I have yet to find such a thing that I can absolutely live without, but I do treasure a few good things, such as some foods, my music, some books, my movies but I can certainly live without them if I have to.

I think people can be the best addiction ever. You just have to find your own fine drug out there, and then hold it tight, else it might be stolen away by another desperate junkie. :p

My addiction? You mean, besides Jref? :D

Well, there's the obvious, of course - anime and manga! 👍
Alongside with this goes, of course, hentai 😍 Mostly in the form of doujinshi - and only the sane stuff, no tentacles/bondage/other sick stuff for me (well, tentacles might be ok for a good laugh once in a while, but that's it. The other sick stuff like bondage isn't even funny, only disgusting )
Then linguistics is also very interesting (and Jrefs is a nice help there).
Computer and internet is a good thing as well, but is generally only used to quench my desire for the other stuff mentioned before :D

@frank
Pepsi!? Bleargh... And even 10-12 bottles a day!? How gross...
I was addicted to Coke many years ago (a whole lot of years ago, if I think about it) and at its height drank a 1l bottle a day, but I managed to break free of it. At first I switched to 7-Up or Sprite, which then decreased ever more and more. Today, I'm not drinking either anymore (except for rare cases). What I got from it (at least I think it's a result) is my high sensibility towards carbonated beverages - if I drink too much (more than a glass or so), I have to belch a lot and might also get a stomach ache.

I can't drink many carbonated drinks because I get stomach ulsors.
