i seen plenty of japanese guys get up and move down or away from each other, and they looked close in age + didn't smell (as far as i could tell)

We are talking Japan. You SIT next to people. You have crotchs and arses mushed into you. You have people sleep on your shoulder. One guy in a suit is NOT offensive here.
Well, she'll probably tell others about it. Such stuff goes round & it will come back to you & maybe others with darker skin (if she makes a racial issue of it). Maybe you should think a bit into the future before harassing people, even if you're "a bit beered up." Sometimes it's a nice move to be a bit reserved.

My fave day was when I was a bit beered up. I sat on a train, quietly and unobtrosively I might add, when an old lady that was next to me got up and MOVED a few seats down away from me. So being a bit courageous, I got up and moved back next too her. She did it again. So did I.

Reagrding drunkness. I had a FEW beers that night. I was not parlytic exposing myself spew drunk. I was 'well I am working early tomorrow but Japanese business ettiquette dictates when staff ask you too come drinking you politley have a beer or two and leave' drunk. As in not very. I'm not an arsehole. Today I was on the courtesy seat of the train. Where I was there 6 seats. All taken. Me, two 20'ish girls, a young middle aged women, a schoolboy and a salaryman. An old guy got on the train, cane and hobble included. Walked to the courtesy seats. Out of the 6 who was the one that got up and agve up his seat? Clue for the dense: It wasnt the schoolboy, the salaryman or the three women.

Another train story from tonight. Happened on a later train to the getting up for the old guy train. Stepped onto the train into a carriage of high school girls. The less 'innocent' looking type mainly. Now I had my punk style hair today (not I did NOT have that hair during the old lady incident). As in big spikes of hair using gel. As soon as I step on the train I here gasps and giggles from the schoolgirls. Look up and some are looking at me. I smile then put my head down and start listening to music. A few seconds later I feel something touching my hair. look up to see one of the braver girls touching my spikes. She pulls back but I'm like 'daijyobu' and suddenly I have a pack of schoolgirls molesting my punk hairstyle and asking me questions. Quite a highlight for the day.

This post is strange. Are you sure they were staring at you because you were black? Are you sure there wasn't maybe a strange message on his tee-shirt? Was your fly undone? Do you look like someone famous? Where were you? Maybe those tourists were wondering if they could talk to your friends? Why have you not spoken to your friends since?
If not that then why did the girls I was with react the way they did. They obviously were having trouble dealing with our walking by the Japanese tourists.

No, I think they had enough Japanese girls in their group that they didn't need to talk to the girls I was with.
They were obviously uncomfortable with me being out with them. When I first met them at school, they seemed interested in knowing me. Don't really know someone until you get out in the public eye.
Most Japanese don't encounter racism because they never go outside of Japan, a lot don't even know what the word means. Only the few that come to the US and are able to live here for awhile encounter it.
People in this thread that say it's funny or this thread doesn't make sense will never understand what it's like for a black, latino, or any minority individual.

Well, I've only been to Okinawa for a week and to Tokyo, well, for only one day, so I know little of Japan, but I do watch the little Japanese programming I receive here and everytime I watch it I just wanna cry. I'm like,"They treat it like life, I treat it like paradise." Seriously, although I was only 7, going to Japan was just great. Unfortunately since I'm not only HALF Japanese(which, I don't really look Japanese, but I'm still 50% and thus act it), so I look more like a gaijin, but since I've been here I've had to re-learn the language. Anyways, all I've ever seen is how great atleast Tokyo is. OK, so, granted it may be difficult finding work, mainly because my parents have no interest in going and don't know anything of the language, but even so. I just love my country.

Video games: They started it all! Again, all ages, all genres. I am an absolute DDR FREAK! I remember when I first played DDR in Tokyo. I sucked and was laughed at, but then when I found the local American Arcade got it I tried it. Again no good, but then Playstation had it, and THAT did it.
Japanese language: Well, I love it because of the way it sounds, but the sentence structure always made me mad. I like the language, but I wish they'd invent words instead of just taking ours. I know they're foreign but even so. Nobu? Key? Dooru? Takshii? Come on!

Firstly because it is the associative term used by the majority of my friends, mainly to infringe on the fact that it is often misconstrued as a racial comment, but also because, you wouldn't say ,"I am a Japanese." You say "I am Japanese" or "I am a Jap."

The very first video game was called "Spacewar", and was developed by Steve Russell as an add-on to a television to make it better than all other televisions. This game was eventually updated later in the future and re-released with simplified controls as "Asteroids".
The first arcade games were made by an american based company called "Service Games", headed up by a Korean war veteran named David Rosen. This company was later sold/relocated (I can't really remember, and I don't have the time/patience to dig up my old paper on the subject). This company was named "SEGA".
Let's not forget Atari, Magnavox, Coleco, and others. The main reason that video games are based in Japan right now is that the Famicom rejuvenated the business after the video game crash of the early 1980s, in which most american based companies went into a steep decline. And even after that, American companies kept making games.

Do you hate your relative simply because he's white? or is it for some other reason? Yes, there isn't a rule against hating your parents, but it seems rather strange when the reason is "They're white", rather thatn "They left me and my mother when I was a kid to hold up a drug habit", or something along those lines.

Then specify that next time, rather than making a blanket statement. Think before you type. And, just for the record, there are bad people everywhere, regardless of race. My friends and I have met some pretty mean hispanic gangs around where I live (Texas), but I don't go making a blanket statement saying "I hate all Hispanics", simply because I've had some bad experiences in the past. That's just childish.

Well, you were talking about video games being made in Japan. That was taken to mean that the Japanese invented video games, rather than just rejuvenating the industry after the early 1980's and the video game crash.

Kei_Shugojin basically said what I was thinking...except for that ending. That was a bit extreme, but I got the point. You can't expect people to just nod and agree to everything you say. Besides, what made this a one-sided exploiting war? I don't remember waging war against you or anyone else here...care to explain that one?

Of course there is. Racism is a horrible little thing that spreads through ignorance. I could name a good amount of countries with the problem, but that's another story and would go completely off the initial topic.
I was walking with my Japanese friend at school today and there were so many Japanese students giving me bad looks. When I got home, I emailed her and asked why Japanese people don't like black people. She told me that she thinks it's because Japanese people think that cultures are supposed to stay together and not mix with one another.
Is it because Japan has been so closed to foreigners for the longest time, I think there was an Emperor that made it illegal for foreigners to visit Japan awhile ago, I guess this is still in the Japanese minds, even today.

Awhile ago, I took two Japanese girls out and we ran into a group of Japanese tourists, all they did was stare at us, one of the girls I took out has an I don't want to be here look. I took them home and never called them again.
I don't want to be a target for staring everytime I go out with my Japanese friends or maybe one day I find a Japanese girlfriend, but I'm thinking that will never happen.
It's something that I thought would die out eventually, but it appears to be a human trait to discriminate based on generalizations and false beliefs. Here's my opinion: No race is any better than the other. The only things that determine the quality of a human being is what's inside his heart. I know that sounds rather corny, but it's true. I've never based my opinion on someone based on their skin color. I've usually looked them over to determine what they may be like, based on how they dress/groom themselves (key words: MAY be like), then I develope my opinion after I've talked to them.
It's difficult to develope that as a habit, but it's much easier in the long run.
Now I don't know where some people get off saying "I have Japanese blood. I am superior." That reminds me a great deal of the Nazis, with "I have German blood. I am superior." That sort of attitude never bodes well with anyone. It doesn't matter wether you're German, Japanese, American, whatever. It doesn't matter where you were born and raised. It doesn't matter where you live. All humans were created with equal potential, no matter what they're made of. We're all Human.
So, to all you racist persons out there, I'll just say...
