MOST Anime fans seem to be gay/lesbian/bisexual?
Note: I didn't say all...


It's just something that I have been noticing a lot lately.

I know that there is a fair share of fans who are heterosexual.
But I was wondering if you thought that maybe there were less hetero fans.



I don't mean to sound weird or anything.
But it seems to me, that something about anime, and liking Japan and such has a big influence on sexuality.


Perhaps I'm just paranoid and strange.

I'm leaning towards paranoid and strange, because of all the people I know, amongst those who I might consider a "fan" of anime or manga, I know of one who is bisexual, and that person knows several straight girls who are into the crazy yaoi stuff.

I'm curious, what do you mean by "liking Japan and such has a big influence on sexuality"? Could you elaborate that a bit?

You are mistaken i think. Maybe a lot of gay/lesbian/bisexuals find anime appealing cuz they lack the certain moral restrictions here in the west and are bit more out there.

The vast majority of anime fans are straight (and desperately seeking companionship with the opposite gender, some desperately seeking to lose their virginity).

I agree that many Homosexual minded people are drawn to anime because it has many homosexual activity in many anime's and Manga, but does it turn anime fans a bit fruity?, not really, I was a big anime fan, and now I'm a 21 year old bloke with a healthy (or unhealthy, you decide ) facination with nice boobies.

I've been watching anime and reading about it on the net for years now and didn't really get any kind of gender or sexual role picture from it, so my base assumption was that the anime demographic resembles the general demographic in that regard.

I think she means a lot of lesbian/gay people watch yaoi or shounen ai.

Are there any statistics to back those statements up, then? I don't personally know anyone who is into yaoi or shounen ai, but when I hear stories from friends about their acquaintences that do, they are never bi or homosexual...
