Why do some people like dogs?

I became a cat person after terrible luck with dogs. My first dog caught distemper and died. My grandmother's dog attacked me at age 4. My cousin's dog I really loved got hit by a bus and killed when I was 7. At age 8 , my dog was hit by a firetruck and killed. Back then , dogs just ran at large , no fenced in areas or leash laws. I now have just one cat left.

I would love to have a dog , but feel they would somehow be doomed if I owned them. I do hate bad dog owners though , LOL. My neighbor renter next door let their Great Dane leave large cow patties all over my back lawn. My wife prevented me from putting them in their mail box.

Just flick them back over the fence.

The woman had a hammock and I would throw them all around it and watch her step in it . After years of horrible renters , a nice couple (with a small dog) bought the house last summer. We are hoping they stay and not just flip it.
