... schoolgirls ?

Oh, dear !

I do so hope that I don't start a problem here ... especially with all you Japanese ladies out there !

But I just have to ask the question !

I have been watching "Iron Chef" (one of my favorite shows!)for several years now, and have always been slightly amused by the fact that nearly all the guest actresses on the show appear so 'young' (you know .... forty, going on sixteen...)- even when it's apparent that ... they're not !

Is "growing older gracefully" not acceptable in Japan ?

Or do Japanese guys have a schoolgirl fetish ?

Most of these gals look quite lovely ... but ... y'know .... !

Regards ( I'm running for cover.....now....!)

Because even if they're 40, they still look like teenagers. 👍

"Is "growing older gracefully" not acceptable in Japan?"
no (they are obsessed with age), and cuteness reigns supreme
people could commit crimes and receive only a slap on the wrist -- if not getting off scot free -- if they were cute enough
that is my opinion/observation

Yes! Growing old gracefully is very much accepted in Japan! With the population aging today, it is very much IN... 😎

It's only that Japanese (and other Asians) look young from the Western perspective. When I was in Las Vegas, I was stopped by security guards asking for my ID when I was WAAAY over 21. 😊

Veteran actresses who people believe have aged gracefully:

Midori Satsuki, aged 66:

Kaoru Yachigusa, aged 72:

Sayuri Yoshinaga, aged 60:
When she admitted her age to the late Jessica Tandy in a TV program, Ms. Tandy was obviously amazed.

They openly admit their real age and did not get the aid of cosmetic surgery.

Oooh ....my... God.... !

Please, please, please! ... all of you! .... promise that you won't email these photos to my wife !!!!!!!

(I knew this was a bad idea !)

I really am (most seriously!) amazed !

Is it the diet ? ....and where do Frank and I get our tickets .....?

Stunned regards,

Sayuri Yoshinaga... wow! Compared to her, most of the 60 year olds I know look like a catcher's mitt.

its not fun when your mates ask you why your dating a teenage girl when she's actually 20....

Brilliant!
I want to marry a Japanese lady!
If I keep myself in good shape, I want my special lady to do the same.
No fat old, tracksuit-wearing hounds for me!...sorry if this sounds a bit harsh,

That's so nice of you, Rock.

Geez, people. These women are celebrities. Not normal people. How unrealistic is that? I know Japanese women my mom's age (52) and my mom looks ten times better than they do. They've already got the old lady hairdo and makeup going on, where my mom looks like a 30 year old. Maybe it's because she's a P.E. teacher, I don't know, but still...

It's a little unfair to compare "normal" people to celebrities. No matter if they've had plastic surgery or not. They're still "glamorized" before they get in front of a camera.

Still, it is true that Asians usually do not show their age as much as Westerners. I think a lot of it has to do with genes, though. They're just blessed like that. Just like when I said something to my doctor about the size of my babies(all were smaller than the average American baby). I was like, "well, my husband just blessed me with small babies, didn't he?", and my doctor's answer was, "you're right".

My Moma's Old ...

Another factor would be health, wouldn't it ? I wish my mom was as healthy(-looking) as Kaoru Yachigusa, who's older. What can I say, she's had a hard life, little taking care of herself. I guess stars are generally healthy to begin with (yes, it's true. Heatlth do make people attractive, and able to withstand harsh acting, filming, other strenuous routines.)

But couldn't we also count in eating more vegetables and less fatty, meaty meals ?

Well, Kaoru Yachigusa has more lines under her eyes than in the picture but is actually little different when you see her live on TV.

Of course, I posted pictures of these actresses because they are EXCEPTIONAL even by Japanese standards. (I also chose photos that show them as they look on live TV.) They are also well-known health & exercise buffs. There are actresses who look their age, of course--but that's not fun! :p

These women represent what all Japanese women want to be when they get into their forties or older.

FYI, Kuroki Hitomi is a versatile actress who was trained in singing and dancing at Takarazuka (performing arts school for girls). She's one of the most popular actresses today.

Kaoru Yachigusa also trained at Takarazuka because launching her acting career.

Sayuri Yoshinaga was an icon in her youth. Her male fans were called Sayurists.

Midori Satsuki is a singer who does some acting on the side. I must admit she's losing her singing voice. ( 😭 )

Did anyone see that Korean(I think) girl in the news last year who broke the world record for 'speed eating'.
She was nearly 40 and looked like a 20 year old (amazingly not at all fat either, considering she could eat 100 hot dogs a minute or something ridiculous like that)...Rich
