Hi, I guess everyone has at least one or two favorites, and since I am writing from Canada, I'd be interested in knowing who the top favorites in Japan are. Do people in Japan like North American artists such as Green Day? My current favorite is a band I recently saw in concert called "Beyond the Fall".
They are pop/rock and are sort of unique among today's bands. Their song "Day in the Death Of" is powerful and almost addictive. If you'd like to check them out they are on myspace and many of their videos are posted on youtube as well. They are worth checking out!
Peace to all.

This isn't really what you are asking for, but I can't resist posting that my favorite Japanese band (of the ones I have heard) is the Down Town Boogie Woogie Band, active in the 1970s and 1980s.

Here are the URLs for a couple of YouTube clips (although the audio and video are not synchronized in the second one):

My guess is the OP and her friends are trying to do is to promote their favorite band...

I just wanted to say how much I love The Downtown Boogie Woogie Band.
宇崎竜堂(Ryu-dou Uzaki)、the lead singer is among the top songwriters working in the world of Kayokyoku. Among many hit songs he has penned, I especially like the ones he has written with his wife 阿木耀子(Yoko Agi) for 山口百恵(Momoe Yamaguchi). Out of the ones he wrote for the DTBWB, my favorites are "Smokin' Boogie" and, of course, "Minato No Yoko, Yokohama, Yokosuka" !

あんた、あのコのなんなのさっ

It's good to find someone on Jref who is also a DTBWB fan. Last year (before you joined) I posted about them, but there were no responses.

I did more searching on YouTube with the following results:

Two videos of the song "Rock'n'Roll Widow", which I think Uzaki and his wife wrote for Momoe Yamaguchi:

Some Down Town Boogie Woogie Band songs, not all of them performed by DTBWB, but all of them have Ryudo Uzaki, and some of them basically audio only:

Unfortunately I cannot copy kanji into this system, so I can't give the title
"Sanya Blues"
"Manju Shaka" and "Mi mo Kokoro mo"
"Vaya Con Dios"
"Secret Love"
"Itoshi no Tina"?

There are two videos of Ryudo Uzaki & Takayuki Inoue performing acoustic versions of "Shirazu" and "Success":

Here is an audio only clip of "Woman of Flame" from one of Uzaki's solo albums:

By the way, I remember the line 窶堋?窶堙ア窶堋スツ、窶堋?窶堙姑坦窶堙娯?堙遺?堙ア窶堙遺?堙娯?堋ウ窶堙 from "Minato No Yoko, Yokohama, Yokosuka" (one of my favorite DTBWB songs, too). What does it mean?

It was good to hear from you.

あんた、あのコの何なのさ = (literally) What is your relation to that girl?
I guess it's closer to "What"s she to YOU?".

That song is a classic. I have it in my i-Pod. lol

You mentioned Rock n Roll Widow. I also like that song. As a matter of fact, I was one of Momoe-chan's young fans who bought that 7 inch vinyl when it first came out. I really liked the part where she sang, " いい加減にして! あたし、あなたのママじゃない!" (Enough already! I"m not your Mother!!)

I could spend my time [which I am wasting anywho cause I can't join in gym due to my knees] typing up a big reply, it in reality I'll just narrow it down.

I'm a melomaniac, and that basically means I'm addicted to music, I don't quite have a favorite because I just like so damn many different bands xD

I like a lot of bands from different countries but right now I'm hyping a Swiss band I heard last night, called Deep Trip.

Check them out they are awesome, they play heavy rock music on electric guitar, drums, violin, cello and double bass and they really rock! 👍 (I know... Switzerland isn't known for its progressive music... XD but these are really good.)

A few of my favorite Japanese bands are Közi solo, Malice Mizer, Eve of Destiny, DALLE, PPP and Moi Dix Mois.

well for me i have alot of korean bands in my PC

Japanese - NEWS, KAT-TUN
Korean - TVXQ or DBSK, SHINEE, WONDER GIRLS, 2ne1, GIRLS GENERATION and SUPER JUNIOR

America: Staind (it was Aaron Lewis's music that got me into song writing)
Japan: beat crusaders and heavy cley (might be clay can't remember)

My favourite bands are Radiohead, My Chemical Romance, Muse, Nico Touches The Walls (Japanese btw) and Japan (it's an 80's band from England).
