Which japan based online game to play?

I am in the U.S. but I am looking for a game to play that is based in japan, maybe rpg or something that is really fun. Also something that will help me practice my hiragana katakana. I am really not good at kanji. Well let me know.

I can't think of any mmorpg that include being in Japan.

I can't think of any that spring to mind beyond the ones already mentioned.

However how good is your Japanese?
Is it good enough to communicate quickly and casually?

The Japanese players on FFXI (on Caitsith, at least) keep very much to themselves. They rarely use says or shouts, and it's difficult to get them to party with NA players in Qufim and beyond (lv 20+). The ones I have partied with, however, are much better players than most NA players I've partied with randomly--friends not included. Also, 90% of the time Jp players will just use the autotranslate instead of actually typing kanji or kana, which is really what you're supposed to do.

Oh, and while NA copies will display Japanese text, it only allows input of English text, so you'll have to use romaji to type back in Japanese.

gunbound is similar to maple story, not an rpg but you just choose different little tanks and shoot at each other in 2d up to 4v4 and win gold where u can buy items and stuff. its pretty fun for awhile

I find many Japanese games fun when you know the language.. You can learn the language though if it's a slow game.
