where was I in Japan?

Hi all,
Back in 2006 I stayed in Japan for 10 days and I am trying to find one of the places that I stayed. Here is a pic I happened to take near a train station. Can anyone tell me where I was?

You were right here.

If you see a marker labelled "A" on the map, ignore it. The map shows roughly the same are as the neighborhood map shown in your photo. You were in Abiko City, Chiba Prefecture.

after some more research I discovered that I was at the kohoku station.

Bought back memories , LOL.

I traveled all over Kyushu back in the early 70's and took hundreds of pictures. Now when I look at them , I have no idea on the names and locations. I sure wish I had kept notes on them all.

I have no way of knowing what station you were at, but the neighborhood map in the photo corresponds with the Google map I linked to. If you look carefully you can see the names of various businesses and buildings match precisely. Unfortunately, there was no "You Are Here" indication visible in the photo or I could have narrowed it down to within a few meters.

Frank, yeah I'm sort of in the same situation. I was there for about two weeks and now six years later I'm starting to forget a lot. So I want to try and get down on paper what I can before it's all gone.

Mike, I didn't tell the whole story of the research. This picture was also taken at the same station. It was looking west. With google maps you can match up the buildings perfectly. Even the three little structures on the right near the tracks.
