Funny story,
I have only had one instance where sending using English went awry. I sent a box with a cell phone in it to my wife so she could call me when she arrived for our wedding in Hawaii. I had sent many packages before and all had gone well, and all packages since have been fine too. However this package took a slight detour and, mindbogglingly, from a direct flight via USPS from Minneapolis, MN to Tokyo, Japan ended up in Sydney, Australia where it was opened by their customs for being suspicious. It was then sent on its way and when my wife to be got it she sent me pictures of the red stamps all over it saying that it had been opened by customs. Nothing was missing and my letter to her was still sealed but she was pretty angry and freaked out about it. I was just annoyed at both Australian customs for opening it and the USPS for misdirecting the mail so badly (though it could have been the airline).
This was during the bush years so I wouldn't be surprised if the cell phone was picked up on a scan somewhere and they wanted to check it out, but Australia!?!, that was just bazaar!
