After playing hours of Halo 2 and Half Life 2, the winner must go to Half Life 2. However, Halo 2 is probably the best looking and best playing console game I've ever played. Hell, it looks better than most PC games.

Half Life 2 is in my opinion the best FPS ever made. If you are a real FPS gamer then you play those games on the PC and not on a console, because it just plays much better on a PC.

the first one set the standards for alot of FPS games.. i mean without Half-life we wouldent have Counter-Strike and i love Counter strike source is pretty awsome

PC: playing half life 1 atm, haven't got half life 2 so can't make an informed decision. but from what i've played, wolfenstein enemy territory is the best. it has no single player mode, but it's free.

N64: goldeneye defined the genre, but if you play it again you'll find it has aged considerably. hence perfect dark wins.

i like deus ex 1, system shock 2, thief 2(my all time fav! i have like a hundred fan missions) and counter-strike,firearms and ahl for halflife 1

Halo 2 was very impressive and the multiplayer mode has kept me coming back for more, but Half Life 2 just blew everything out of the water. Finest FPS ever, followed secondly by the first Wolfenstein.

I'd have to say that System Shock 2 is the best FPS game ever. I loved the bloody messages on the wall, and the constant feeling of lonliness as I listened to the recordings left by the dead crew. I was scared ****less the first time I played it...

I love the graphics and gameplay of Half-Life 2 though, and it has so much potential with the soon-to-be-available mods. Now, whenever i walk down the streets, I can't help but mutter "outbreak" in a combine soldier vioce...


For the console, GoldenEye for the N64 is the clear winner. Loved playing multiplayer and being Oddjob or Jaws.

half-life for the ps2, half-life 2 may be better but i havent played it yet and um i think call of duty finest hour and medal of honor frontline are there at the top
