What game are you playing?

Currently playing Naruto Rise of a Ninja.
very good game although I have to say it gets tough around 70% completion and if you dare not play it again for a while you get rusty and it becomes almost impossible to pass it well at least not without suffering some first
 
Currently playing a ninja game on the nds. I don't know what it's called but it's really good!
 
I'm working on Phantasy Star Generation Vol.2 (Playstation2 release)
It's kind of hard for me because I read no more than 200 Japanese vocab.

Playing the wonderful Okami for the Wii (even though I played it on PS2 years ago). Such an beautiful and funny little game.
 
I just finished playing through Dynasty Warriors: Gundam with my fiancee. I'm actually not a fan of Gundam but the game was really fun, lol.
 
Final Fantasy XI. Want to play Ninja Gaiden II. Really wish I had a PS3 for MGS4.

Ahh the only Final Fantasy I never played lol. I wasnt fond of the monthly fee to continue playing it. I have a friend that plays it though and I give him some set phrases to say to impress the Japanese players...and occasionally I might be able to understand some of the things they say.

MGS4 is really quite good...but I'm kinda stuck and at the point where I'm ready to throw my controller at the screen. Maybe I'm not as good at games as I used to be /sigh.

In other news my baby niece (only 6 years old) handed my *** to me on BOTH super smash brothers brawl and Mario Kart Wii

I'm getting old ; ;
 
currently playing devil may cry 4 PS3 , dragon balls burst limit PS3 ,animal crossing DS , the world ends with you DS , the eye of judgment ps3and mario kart WII
 

Its really worth it. FFXI being a Japanese made game, I love how it stresses teamwork and group unity to be the best that you can be. Not many other MMORPGs pull it off. Also, I enjoy the grind because when you finally ding 75 and start doing endgame, it feels like a great achievement to pull the big challenges off with your linkshell. One of the early reasons I became interested in learning the Japanese language was FFXI, so I could talk to some of the more experienced Japanese players.

Speaking of FFXI, Gizmo from Pandemonium makes awesome FFXI videos that make me tear up. :3
 

My friend bought me a copy about 2 years ago and my computer at the time was so ancient it couldnt even handle installing it lol.

While english is usually butchered over the internet (most of the time) the Japanese in my friend's server use a lot of desu/masu form which was a little surprising. I thought they would be a bit more casual over the internet. Then there were little things like 窶堋ｱ窶堙ｱ窶堙俄?堋ｿ窶堙ｭ instead of 窶堋ｱ窶堙ｱ窶堙俄?堋ｿ窶堙債。

Now that I think about it could be a good excuse to practice Japanese ;p
 
Not to bash FFXI but a WoW kind of "jack-of-all-trades" mmorpg would be more suitable for learning the language, as you don't really need special occasions to speak and such, whereas, when you begin FF with no sphere at all, it feels like you're playing a single player game.
Though I agree, its a decent game.
 
Yeah, but FFXI lets you practice your manners too. ^^

In fact, thinking about it, WoW feels more single player to me because you can level alone from 1-70. :x Not that I've ever played WoW.
 
You may learn manners in FFXI, but in WoW, you would learn some passionate phrases, and I mean flaming, jargon, slang, even 1337.
In FFXI you are inclined to group up with people to advance, in WoW, its more about not getting abused and analraped. I've played both games, and I must say, FFXI is a great one for PvE, but WoW has such an amazing PvP system. You know, if you're a passionate gamer, you will surely have this sensation of camraderie, and often go: "Look, he's grinding, lets get him from behind (well, as a rogue thats what I'd do).
It depends on playstyle. If you're the super fair person who is aware that other people pay for this, and its unethical or whatever to gank them when you're 30 levels higher, sure, WoW is probably a poor choice, but hell, have I ever ganked and been ganked so much in any other MMORPG in my life hahaha...
 
Leveling up past 30 in FFXI was too hard.
Heck, I could barely even retain my own levels then.

I eventually decided to quit, several weeks after still being level 32 or something.

And the need to party shouldn't be there.
People say "oh but why would you play a MMORPG if you'd like to play alone?"

Because parties aren't always easy to find. And sometimes you just want to chill around doing your own thing until you feel like hanging out again.
There's a lot more to the idea of playing with other people than just partying. It's a community, and people in a community don't always work together.

Yes, what makes an MMORPG great is that regular, live human beings can take the place of many NPCs. If only real people could talk and create an experience like the NPCs in regular RPGs do.

FFXI should have allowed soloing and been more relaxed about exp loss.

I end up not liking a lot of MMOs because it doesn't feel epic enough to where I feel like I'm playing an RPG.
At least Final Fantasy tried to make their MMO epic, with Star Sybil, Promathia, ect. And while I may have not liked all the areas, they were indeed detailed.

I guess they just couldn't pull it together, I didn't even feel like I was playing a Final Fantasy. Wasn't epic enough. Never felt like much was ever at stake except my exp. All the epic and good parts of the story come at later in the game when you're high level.

Anyway, currently playing Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess for the Wii.
 
I revoke anything good I said about FFXI. SquareEnix (or at least the people running FFXI) are a bunch of jerks. I got a GM called on me for impersonating a SE employee jokingly. In one sentence.

MMOs are a waste of time, lol.
 
I completed Sonic Rush today on my DS, still playing through Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops on my PSP and I'll be starting with Zelda: Phantom Hourglass on my DS.
 
What I missed in FF was "quick interaction". I remember when WoW just came out, pvp was so bloody intense that a dagger rogue could kill a mage with an Ambush + Backstab crit. Or a fire mage could own up people with an instant Pyroblast. That is what FF lacks imo, and unfortunately WoW too nowadays.
