I can't understand how to translate "杓子新報" properly.
I try to translate a game, and recently I stmubled upon this heading in game's newspaper.
I need to mention, that I already found that "新報"("Shinpō") actually means "news" and
commonly used in newspaper's names, for example "歌舞伎新報" ("Kabuki News").
I also found out that "杓子" ("Shakushi") actually means "ladle" or "scoop", but I can't get a connection.
I even thought that it can be something like "scoop news".
I realize, that it can be just a title from developer's imagination and can only be translated as "Shakushi News" or something like that. But maybe there can be different meaning. What do you think?
Oh no, there isn't. This name have nothing connected with game. Just a name. But I was thinking about accuracy of my translation.
But you may be right and it doesn't need word-for-word translation . Anyway, thanks for your answer!
Ok, I got it, thank you so much! Unfortunately, It has nothing to do with cat, but it can be a reference to anything.
By the way, when I started to look for idioms that contain "杓子", I found this one "杓子果報".
And I noticed that "杓子果報" has almost the same spelling as "杓子新報", so maybe it is also some kind of rephrasing.
