Walmart Selling Whale Meat In Japan, Burying Tortoises Alive

Diane Rehm, American radio network talk host, read on her network show a short statement in regards
to Walmart's fish deaths caused by suffocation, smashing, neglect, filth and disease. Over a million goldfish have
died in Walmart's dirty and confining
tanks.

Such conditions in the tanks call into question Walmart's
animal flesh. 97% of all food poisoning fatalities are caused by
meat, fish, eggs, cheese and milk.

Walmart has been promoting animal products,
has been selling whale meat in Japan,
living animals for slaughter in China. Recently the chain was exposed
in burying tortoises alive as it built a store in Florida.

The chain's workers are underpaid, receive no benefits,
and exhaust the medicare plans in many states.

In addition, Walmart is with McDonald's one of the world's 2 biggest
unionbusters, a corporation which has discriminated against 2 million
women in terms of management positions, a destroyer of wetlands,
a destroyer of small villages and towns, etc.

There are also dirty diapers in the parking lot! Old people that smell funny greet you at the door with dentured smiles! The tall narrow aisles block out the sun! The low quality Chinese made merchandise and the great "low prices" that drive out of business all the local mom and pop stores! And the stores in Florida MOVE! It's like there are turtles buried undeneath them! And the Muzak they play... it makes me want to eat MEAT!

I live in England so we dont have Walmart so to speak over here but they do own another large supermarker chain in England called "Asda", thankfully though Asda doesn't sell live animals.
Most of what i hear about Walmart comes from a fish forum i am a long term member of, i wouldn't be suprised though if far more goldys had died plus you also have to consider that they dont just sell Goldfish but rather thousands of species of fish. Most of the lack of care of fish stems from the fact that Walmart is still basically a supermarket and staff need to have proper training to look after fish and advise what sort of care their need when sold to customers, and walmart is simply not willing to pay its staff the extra money they need for petshop training.
Its very sad, but i doubt things are going to change as far as fish are concerned for walmart, unless i dunno, the the currency/stock market crashs in america- but then again, it has so many stores set up in other countrys who care alot less on the whole on animal wellfare now days raking in huge profits, i doubt its ever going to go out of buisness anytime soon. If you dont like walmart, one of the best and easiest thing to do is to simply stop buying goods from it and its sibling stores and businesses. Im no animal rights activist, but then again i dont want to support somthing like that(walmart) with my money for a variety of reasons.

Yes, apparently the philosophy behind selling the fish for example, is that they actually make a large loss on selling fish alone. But the tanks sold for the fish to go in do make large profits, so the more fish sold then inevitably the more tanks are- because of the staffs/employees poor training, a heck of a lot of really massive growing fish get sold into small tanks, and thus when the fish quickly outgrow them the customers come back and buy larger tanks, and thus more profit for walmart. I wouldn't exactly call it a morally correct way of raking in profits, but for walmart it works either way.

Our local Walmart doesn't have any whale meat, goldfish or turtles. It does have a lot of low paying benefitless part time employees...
