University Nomination - MEXT Scholarship

😌

Do know any expected date of result?

Bit Confused.

As you can see here I don't have a clue about that either.

But according to the last year, it should be around this week.
Hopefully within next week!

There are many factor that delay the process so it quite hard to predict.

My professor told me that he's still waiting for news too... It looks like all of us are waiting as of this moment :o

Let us hope for the best....

Keep in touch..

I have been selected on research assistantship in university of Patronas, malaysia, Kindly guide me should I select Japan if I get selected for MEXT or should I go for Malaysia. In Malaysia, they are only giving 1650 MR almost 500USD permonth.
In japan I applied in Hokkaido University.

Kindly guide me in this regard.

Hi guys, if you want to get nomination through University, you need to contact the professor in the University only right? if your professor choose you and nominate you under his University, then you would need to prepare for Application Document right?

Do I need to do anything else before contacting the professor?

I think it depends on the type of scholarship/program you're going to go through(?) In my case, I had to prepare a research proposal because that's the first thing I'm going to do if I ever get the scholarship. But for some people here, they already have a specific program once they enter the university, but I'm not so sure if they also prepared a research proposal beforehand. :?

Someone please shed light on this :D

Hi, guys, this is my first post, although I have been reading your posts since last summer. Like you, I'm a MEXT candidate through university recommendation and I'm waiting for a reply, too, a reply that I would like to know as soon as possible! >_< Anyway, good luck to everyone!

To reply to TiLung, I applied to a specific PhD program, but even so I had to write an abstract of my research planning, of course the professor who nominated my name to this scholarship helped me. I don't know if this is the common rule or not, this MEXT stuff is so shrouded in mystery >_<

I applied to a program of the University of Tsukuba, to be more precise to a program of the Graduate School of Systems and Information Engineering.
And you?^^

I applied at Kumamoto Univ, New Frontier Science, Department of Life Science :)
Im too worried about the results, almost 2 weeks we are waiting for the results, but not come yet.

Really appreciate Kicchan86 and teddiecutie :D, this information is really help me

I apply for the Graduate school of Business and Commerce, specialize in Business Management or Supply Chain Management particularly.

I send my request to 8 professors and 2 of them from Waseda and Keio are interesting in my CV and Field of Study.

My draw back is my GPA which is only 2.4/4 :(

Do you guy know any particular process by going through University Recommendation path? When reading on guideline, they said that University recommendation is used for exchange student and in my case, I am working so...?

Honestly, I am really confused now and really scared :(

Don't worry about it too much. I got confused too with all the different information, but usually it depends on the university regarding what requirements you'd have to fulfill. In my case, the only thing I needed from my previous university is a recommendation from the dean. And I'm also working right now.

I think the student exchange thing might be for the ones who are currently enrolled..? But anyway, once you get a professor to support and supervise you, just ask him/her what you need to pass to them. Good luck!!! :D

hix hix if letter of recommendation is the only thing they need, then I can give them 4 or 5 of it :( just hope that they will not be draw back by my GPA.

I have made clear that I got low GPA, but my working experience is much better than that. Hope they will accept it, otherwise :'(

Thank you for you great support teddy :D

BTW, do you know how long would the professor would reply? I know that they are very busy.

For example, Waseda University response about 12h after I sent the email, Keio is about 1 day. However, the one that I expected the most is Kobe 2 days they still not send. I think I am getting paranoid here :|

Haha yeah I think you're getting paranoid, but don't worry that's normal. I think right now is a bit early for uni recommendation, but again that depends on the university. In our country, it's the season for embassy recommendation which also requires a support from a professor.

But anyways, the reply of the prof depends on his/her schedule, whether or not he's busy. :D

As for the ga, there are some who say it's not much of a big deal. I think the most important here is your research proposal and if the prof thinks it's important enough to conduct it :-)

I have got the acceptance from the professor, but the admission and the professor seen to have the problem with the process :(

I want to ask that is there any requirement for us to submit through the University Recommendation? Do we HAVE to be a student of a university? Because I am working now

I am really frustration because when reading again the MEXT, it said that in order to go via University Recommendation, I need to be in exchange student program :|

Can anyone have knowledge on this one :(

Best regard

Hi TiLung! I think I've already answered your question regarding the exchange thing. 'Cuz really, I'm working right now. As in right this moment, I'm at work. I'm just taking a break. And I just got the email from my professor this morning that I got the scholarship :D

From the different information that I've read, it seems that there are a lot of scholarships to study in Japan and one of which might be the university exchange thing that you're talking about. This might be different from the University Recommended - MEXT Scholarship that I applied to. And in the end, it depends on the program and on the professor regarding what will happen to your application.

Just to share with you my experience, I got a professor from Kobe U at first when I was trying to apply for the Embassy Recommended MEXT Scholarship. Obviously, I didn't get that one. At first I thought she was going to help me with the University Recommended process, but in the end she said no. If ever that happens to you, don't give up! Because right now I got recommended through a professor in Tsukuba U and now I got the scholarship! So yey! :D :D :D
