Question Understanding 自分も他の奴にもさせなかったのに

I don't understand where "he would never do that" comes from. Does 自分も imply that? For that meaning, shouldn't the sentence be 自分もしなければ他の奴にもさせなかったのに?

～もしなければ、…もしない is grammatically correct in the context, of course, but this is a stiff/written-word-like expression. ～もしないし、…もしない is more common and natural as friendly conversation like in your example.
