Top 10 films, why?

10. Bram Stoker's Dracula - Even though some think it's corny because of Keanu's corny acting, I love it. Gary Oldman...*sigh*

4. The Professional - Yes, I am another Leon fan. I love Jean Reno. He's one of my favorite actors. Also, the young Natalie Portman. She was amazing in this movie. I also loved Gary Oldman in this, and he plays a bad guy so well, doesn't he?

Yeah, Gary Oldman is the ultimate movie bad guy. From Dracula, The Professional, The Fifth Element and Air Force One, nobody does evil better than him. In fact, I was hoping Oldman would be cast as Dr. Doom in Fantastic Four, instead, he's actually gonna be a good guy for a change: Lt. Jim Gordon in Batman Begins! Fancy that!

By the by, forgot all about Silence of the Lambs! What agreat movie that was! Absolutely excellent! And anthony Hopkins was absolutely wicked As Hannibal Lecter!
👍

Well, the only film I've seen Kevin Spacey in was "Se7en" where he played that whack job serial killer basing his crimes on the seven deadly sins. Talk about a scary flick! Did you see your lover boy in "Beyond The Sea" where he played 50's teen idol Bobby Darin? That was supposed to have been pretty good. Spacey not only starred in it, he wrote and directed the movie as well. Not bad at all!

Yes, I have seen Se7en....great movie...He was so scary but also he played the part pretty well. Still he is sexy. 😍
About Beyond The Sea, I haven't seen it as it hasn't come out here in Denmark yet.
However, I already have the soundtrack and he is a great singer as well I admit....a great actor AND a great singer......Wow....I am more in love with him now.... 😊 I can't wait to see the movie!!!

!!
I agree that Kevin Spacey is a very talented actor; he did great roles in both American Beauty and SE7EN - and in SE7EN he was just scary... 😲 But, sexy? He's... old... and... he's... I don't understand how you could think of him as sexy? :?

My favourite victim of SE7EN was sloth.. the guy lying in his bed for a year was just scary... Other than that, the best thing about the movie was Spacey; he did a good job on the whole 'being evil and smart and psycho' thing! 👍

Well, here's my top ten movies: (no particular order)

Outlaw Josey Wales: Eastwoods character is just so calm and cool while gunning down half of the West and taking revenge for his murdered family. Best Line: You boys gonna pull those pistols or whistle Dixie?

Cast Away: A lot of people didn't care for this one, but I love how the character goes from having the perfect life...to losing it all, to finding hope in the end. I love the ending, standing at the crossroads and trying to figure out which path to take.

Airplane: Nothing but wackiness and one liners! You can't help but laugh at this one no matter how many times you watch it. A Classic!

Shrek 2: First of all, the shrek movies were made for adults, not kids...the blending of the story with the soundtrack is perfect. I loved the 1st one also, but the 2nd is much better in my opinion.

The Shining: One of Nicholson's best performances ever IMHO. This is a dated movie, but I can still watch it over and over and it never bores me.

The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly: Quite possibly the best western movie ever made! Shows just how ruthless things could be in the early days of the wild west. (If you haven't figured it out, I really love watching Clint Eastwood)

SAW: Very graphic, and plenty of twists. Keeps you thinking throughout the movie. (this may eventually drop off my list, but everyone has at least one newer movie on their list that made an impact with them)

Tootsie: Such a great cast! Dustin Hoffman was hilarious and maybe even outdid Robin Williams in Mrs. Doubtfire!

Rocky: The ultimate "guy" film. Balboa is on the bottom, barely making a living and receives the chance of a lifetime. Trains hard and takes the World Heavyweight Champ a full 15 rounds before losing. But in losing he earns the respect of his opponent, and everyone else. The musical score to this movie is awesome and totally gets your blood pumping and has you ready to fight Apollo Creed when the final scenes come up! 😌

Now I realize that is only 9, but I also have to list Christmas Vacation (classic), Randy Quaid is awesome as the brother in law...and the scenes at the Hoover Damn keep me rolling. "Any questions? ... Yeah, Where's the Damn bait?" :p

I also give honorable mention to : Forrest Gump, Leon, Silence of the Lambs, Cape Fear. (I can never narrow these things down to 10! :p )

...anyone ever see the movie Money Pit? Hilarious...that makes me wonder? Who is the greatest actor of all time? Don't you think that Tom Hanks has had some of the best roles...and shown some of the best range? I mean he did start out doing silly comedies...and now look at him! (although I'd have to consider Nicholson right up there!) 🙂

This is a problem with these type of lists. You put in your top 10 and then you see a film that is better than than the ones you've chosen. I also think that your taste in films differs as you get older. I think the ones you like the most are the ones that you will watch 10 years from now.

Hmm, well if this forum is still live and kicking i will post a new list in 10 years :p

Seance (little known psychological thriller

I agree with all of Smoke's choices (that I've seen), but wanted to second this one. Is the Japanese title 'Kourei'? It was made for TV in Japan, and based on an old English film.
The same director did a film called 'Kairo', which I can best describe as quite similar to 'Ringu',but the evil comes from the internet. It has some very creepy moments.

I also loved 'Uzumaki'. I read a description that said the style of the film is somewhere between Tim Burton and David Lynch - I'd say that is a fairly accurate.
It's a crazy film about a little town where people are becoming obsessed with spirals, and the damaging effects it has on them. Eventually some people start turning into snails!
It's a great film, but leave your sense of logic at the door, You won't need it!

Just a quick mention of 'western' films.

I would recommend the Cohen Brothers' films (Big Lebowski and Fargo are my favourites)

Any Stanley Kubrick; The Shining, 2001, Full metal Jacket....etc

David Lynch if you like weird stuff (I do)

On a lighter note, I really like 'Trading Places' (Eddie Murphy in his prime)and 'The Breakfast Club' (old 'Brat-Pack' film about high school kids in detention on a saturday)

Hope this is some use, Rich

Dune (Director's cut of David Lynch's version

Would you recommend this,Chef? I loved Dune. My friend's wife says it is her favourite film ever. Is the director's cut longer than the original?

P.S..) respect for your other choices.
P.S.2) Did you get my PM?
