Tokyo Skytree Town visitors top 1 million

Wow, can't believe they received over a million visitors already, and that just in 5 days. Which is 16.000 visitors per hour!

Anyone on the forum that has already been there or is planning on going there in one of these weeks?

The number of visitors to the Tokyo Skytree tower and surrounding facilities has topped 1 million in the five days since their Tuesday opening, main operator Tobu Railway Co. said Sunday.
About 1,132,000 people have visited the Tokyo Skytree Town commercial complex, including a record of about 272,000 on Saturday, the company said.
Tobu expects about 32 million people to visit the complex in its first year.

Personally, I find the thing to be a total eyesore.

Agree with Mike that the structure isn't that impressive except for it's height! What kind of tower do you think is beautiful then Mike?

Aesthetically, it definitely ranks low in terms of "wow factor", but I believe it's technically quite impressive. Fortunately, there are no branches.

I don't think there is any design they could have used that I would like. I object to the eyesore it makes of the skyline more than to the design of the tower.

The only landmark that should be visible as far away as that thing is is Mount Fuji.

I am not lucky with Toshiba. I had Toshiba notebook once ... it died in half year. Toshiba monitor in my cubicle was always broken unless it was replaced with Samsung. Toshiba Canvio - external hard drive - it was a mistery, it enclosed Hitachi hard drive inside, it was so flimzy, and died mostly imediately.

I mean, You should hurry.

Skytree visitors top expectations

The number of visitors to Tokyo Skytree in Sumida Ward, Tokyo, far exceeded the projection of its operator as the tower marked its half-year anniversary on Thursday.

A walking tour around the area has also become popular. Meanwhile, Tokyo Solamachi, the neighboring commercial complex, has taken business away from local shopping streets, making coexistence with Tokyo Skytree a pressing issue for local residents.

The tower and its complex had welcomed 27.92 million people as of Wednesday, according to the operator.

I heard there are still long queues at the ticket counters and 30-minute waits to reach the first platform. I might go there during the holidays for a photo shoot.

30min wait isn't too long... I had to wait for about an hour and a half at the Eiffel tower (and that was only for the first level... there was another 30 ~ 45 min line for the top.

I know that people here queue up longer for frozen yoghurt or udon, lol. We've once waited 90 mins at the Mori Museum to visit an ukiyo-e exhibition. These days, I just buy the catalogue and enjoy them on my beanbag.

I plan to visit at the end of December. Probably a very bad time to go but I'll take the risk and see how long the line is. If anything, I'll snap some pics of the tower itself and continue on my merry way
