To old for japan?

When is it to late for me, to enjoy japan as a young man? Im 20 years old now, and I don't know for sure when I will be able to actually travel to japan for either studies/work/just a visit.

I wanna be able to enjoy japan both as a young man, and as an adult, which I mean. I want to be able to go to all the funny places where young people hang, and I also want to be able to party with young people. But For me It feels like if I went to japan when I am 25 years old, I wouldn't be able to hang around so much because I would be to old for it.

I would only be able to enjoy places like old pubs where old people hang. Its quite a nightmare for me, to be 20 and know that soon I will be 25 and then 30.

When you're 52, as I am, you'll see things much more differently. Do you think you'll be powdering your dentures at 30? You'll be basically a kid at 30, so I don't know what you're getting so concerned about.
Heck, I can still do the same things as I did at 21. Which goes to show how decrepit I was at 21. ;-)
 
Haha thank you for replying. Well I guess its true, Im getting like this lots of times when I see stuff that reminds me that im not getting any younger
Like when students take their examination on their examination day. It reminds me that im already done with it haha
Anyhow! I will change my mind, as you said, to be 30 is not that much either, and you can still do lots of things when you're older. Things you did when you were younger.

Oh well in my prefecture young people dont party at all or at least very. I am 24 and most japanese people (mostly men) tell me that i am too young to come to Japan. It will never be too late really I think. Tokyo has some good parties though, it is very rearly I would party with students.
 
Who are you going to hang out with? Freeters? College students? You probably wouldn't be hanging out with these people EVEN IF you spoke fluent Japanese--- Unless you had some sort of go-between to introduce you them for some reason...

That said, as a person who's pondered my own age--- There's a lot of people to fraternize with, and it's never too late to go. I don't believe you have to "just get there soon..." time isn't running out on Japan. Go at your own pace, and go prepared... have fun. Japan will be waiting for you, no matter what.
 
You are just 20 and already worrying about being 30?! Relax and enjoy the present!
 
When I was 20, I thought 25 was much, much older than 20.

Now that I'm 41, I really don't see much difference between them at all.
 
I had the same concerns when I turned 20.
I think its natural.
 
Ok that sounds good, but its a fact for me that I will not be able to go to Japan until im 26-27 years old (im not counting if im visiting japan 2 weeks - 1 month) because I will probably study 4 years on the university, (turning 21 soon) because as I planned,I need to study 4 years on university to have a ground to stand on as we speak.

As I have planned (once again) to work in Japan. I also studying japanese so I wont come as a beginner.

But it sounds quite weird in my ears, coming to japan when I am 26-27 year old.

It would be more fun to come as 20-22 and stay there a long time, but I don't know maybe im just overreacting.

I wish !!

I'll be 57 next month and I still would go to Japan "IF" I could afford it. I would do my best to have so much fun I'd suffer a heart attack and die there; wouldn't have to travel far to go to heaven, I'd be right there!

If you want to come and stay a long time, then you're much better off spending those few extra years preparing yourself in your own country by obtaining MARKETABLE JOB SKILLS before you get here. The more education, professional qualifications, and experience you bring with you, the easier it will be for you to remain here long term and have a good life. I really can't stress that strongly enough. Everybody is in such a rush to get here that they fail to do the proper groundwork that will facilitate their goal. And use the extra years to continue your language education as well, of course.

I sometimes think myself sublime, but it is immodest of me to admit it.

I have no problem being 41. Turning 40 bothered me not a bit in the world, and I don't dread turning 50.

When I was in my 20s, I sort of thought they would just go on repeating forever. You know, 27, 28, 29, 20, 21, 22. When I woke up on my 30th birthday and found that my 20s were gone I very easily reconciled myself to getting older. Let's face it; getting older beats the hell out of the alternative.
 
It's all in the attitude. I have an uncle that parties harder than his own son who is in college now. He is 44 and doesn't give a darn about what people might think of him.

Momofuku Ando, a Taiwanese Japanese, started his instant noodle business in his late 40.
He chose Taiwan as his nationality after the war, but came to Japan and naturalised.

Nobody knows what is next great invention.

A typical baby-boomer. I went to my high school alumni "cruise night" where we gather at a Foster's Freeze with our cars and socialize. There were people there who graduated from my high school twenty years before I did and many who graduated 30 years after me.

Funny thing, everyone from my age (and class year) all said I changed very little (maybe with some gray sprinkled here and there) while I had a hard time recognizing some. The point is, enjoy life and keep a positive attitude. It is basically attitude (and some lucky good genes).

That's why I think it's funny that 20-somethings are moaning and groaning about getting older. They're still just starting out in life. Us "geezers" have been there and done that.

As far as I am concerned, I'm having the time of my life. I can pretty much do as I please. (Wallet permitting, naturally!)
