I love saying what MATE.. it's the only time I ever say anything "Aussie" I am Australian tho :p

HAHAHA are you sure you're not making this up as you go along, "Mr Miharu"?
lol
i know... it's just, when i read that, i just had the whole Aussie-nees just attack me, lol
it was great!
*loves the Aussies* :D

lol...

well... it kinda sounds like... you may have some interesting points to make...

i am confused as to why you don't just... um..... say them....

i'm never one to turn down a Japanese history lesson... i'd like to think i know a decent amount about the general istory of Japan
(or, at least up to the er.... 19th centurey, lol... i've only got that far in my book 😌)
and... well, anything about cultural background and stuff interests me...

.... so i'd kinda like to hear what you have to say... but.... could you like.... just give it to us straight maybe?

I KNEW IT!!! Your just like those religious people who knock on my door! :D  :D

Sorry but I don't want to join your religion, read your scripture, or be one of your 137 'chosen ones' :D

I'm content learning things on my own thank you very much. 😏

I'm still not pissed either...

If there's Jrock-bible, it's in Mana's pocket!! :p

(Don't kill me, I'm just joking ) :sorry:

Wow. So you're one of the original collectors of the book an noe you live in sweden, or what? hehe

What are the rules? Who do they exclude or include? :gohan:

Okay. I'm going to try to be very kind here. COuld yuo please, PLEASE stop being so damn retardic!! :angryfire

First: Of course you do know nothing about it. Because it used to be asecret. A SECRET. Do you know what a secret is? If not, look that up.. baka..

Second: Okay, it's surely sound a little too weird to actually be true, but since my mother knew the author and I have the book in my home, I don't really think it's just in my head.

Third: Religious cult. Well of course. And you know what. In our little homemade tempel we run around in latex with dyed hair. On fridays we teach you how to puke without ruining your somewhat crooked teeth. Not mention that we turn towards Yokosuka to pray for hide. ( Although some of the others bastards think it's should be Yokohama, since he was born there, but their stupid. ) good job...really.. :D

Fourth: Okay, I didn't piss you off. Well... okay... I'm happy anyway.

Fifth: You know, it would be better for the rest of you that don't care about learning, to be so kind and learn it *damnit* because we're getting really tired laughing behind your back.

Sixth: I'm half japanese. :P

Ok: The history lesson.

First page in the bible. Translated by my mother.

"The first thing you should know about japanese rock is that it is the only rock music that didn't evolve from some western crap. It's not only the music it self but also the visual. Japanese rock comes from the two theatralical forms called gigaku, and kabuki .
Gigaku is where they were mask, hence it signifies the japanese rocker as some androgynic piece of art. The kabuki was forbidden in the early stages because it was to much hentai. (Added note: Could be a reason for the modern fanservcie) But let's just see it to the music. If you listen to typical japanese rock band (Added note: Dir en Grey) you hear that the drums often are very compact, such as in the Japanese theater. The drums are also quite monoton at some places in the song (Added note: Mostly early indie bands) The song style is also very important. The scream of despair is one of the important things about not only the theater but also ancient Japanese martial arts. (Added note: Mostly indie bands in the early stages screamed. Now it's more growl.) On of course. No Japanese theather would be worth seeing if it wasn't sad, tragical and almost torture for the heart. That also is significant in how a true Japanese rocker builds a song up. (Added note: Modern J-rockers tend to write sissy songs also.

There you go. Of course more to come later about the actual rules.

Now, could you please be so kind and stop being nincompoops ?

Don't be rude. Warning #1. If you can't address people without talking down to them then no one in their right mind will ever take anything you say seriously... seems like common sense to me. Calling people retards, idiots, nincompoops, etc. will do nothing for your arument, especially from someone NEW to this site. And now that you've been warned, should you persist with that attitude and this thread turns into a flamefest between yourself and other members, watch how quickly I lock and or delete this. In other words, play nice. Carry on... 8-)

窶怒窶懌?凪?堙娯?拵ナスツュ窶堙坂?儂ツ?:P

You tell us that we're idiots but you just used a word that doesn't exist (retardic).. yeah.. ok.
No, I'm not pissed off now either

Interesting, err, 'story'.. :D
I don't mind reading it, I just have a hard time believing things without actual evidence.

i don't know if... perhaps you're trying to be light hearted with your comments or not but... meh *shrugs*

can... um... i just add some things about kabuki... (apart from the I KNEW IT! comment)

it wasn't just the hentai.... it was also women cross dressing as men... and basically taking the piss....
they banned it because the woment seemed to be getting too strong... and it was a common fact that some women, especially kabuki dancers and such, were incredibly cleaver... and, well... cunning.... they had to be, it was part of their job...
so they banned the women performing because they were... well, scared basically....

but then the men adopted it...
which would be where i think VK is heavily influenced... because the guys were now dressing as female performers and such... (tho... it's not the only place they cross dressed.... or... were made to cross dress... but i won't get into that ^^;)

but yeah... eventually it was banned all together... possibly because of the pervertedness.... but... kabuki was heavily linked with the pleasur quarters anyway... so... i dunno why that would be too much of a problem... considering how high up that was back then...

lol, well, there's some pointless information for you ^^;
i read it all from a book where this woman had... lol, really done her research,
about Geisha basically, but she goes into real depth about the whole history of Japan and such ^.^

lol, i have no idea if what you're saying is actually from a book like this bible thing or whatever... i don't really know much... but, what you're saying makes sence... and kinda fits in with a lot of my theories ^.^

I'd would listen to Iron Chef if I was you. You do not come onto a forum preaching superior knowledge in such an arrogant fashion. There are plenty of people who would probably be willing to learn things from you if you didn't approach the subject in such a high and mighty attitude. If you have history on J-rock to share, share it, don't treat it as if you belong to some secret cabal on the matter.

Sorry to break it to you but I'm still not pissed, still don't want to join you little cult, I don't want to read you bible, I don't appreciate your rudeness and sarcasm, and I'm not an 'retardic'... That word doesn't exist for the record and 'retarded' is not an insult. It is a condition. You want to offended me or piss me off, continue to use words like that and you will SURELY piss me off.

By the way... I don't need you to teach me. Everything in your lovely history lesson I already knew. Instead of assuming we are all clueless, uniformed newbies to jrock you should perhaps do your research. Don't come in here and treat us as inferiors... you will only get flamed for it.

VK is a subgenre of "j-rock", and not it completely. You'd do well to remember this. There were many bands that came before the whole makeup rock thing that were pure Western rock style with bare visuals, and there still are. "rock" is derivative of Western, always, because it was created in the West. You can go ahead and credit kabuki for helping VK along, but not the entire genre of rock in Japan.

Oh some people are actually reacting now, how pleasant.

Okay. Sorry for calling you things that might be rude but I was just so darn mad at people not even caring for how it started. I was trying to be very very nice in the beginning but NOOOOOOOO that didn't work at all...

I just wanted too spread a little light about the J-rock history. Damn it...

And again. I DON'T BLOODY CARE IF YOU'RE NOT PISSED!!!!

Er, I didn't say anything about visual kei. The book informed about how the early indie bands were dressed and why. And about the Kabuki. I said the rythm in the early indiebands were inspired by the drums used in Kabuki.
And of course the first page is just the first page...

And mr/mrs/ms

pinkkillerkisou: Read it before you judge damn it.. I said that you might be *might* be one of those that only is well informed. If you're not than you don't have anything to worry about do you? I'm not forcing you to do anything am I. I know retarded is a condition hence I said retardic not to assualt people who are retarded, or maybe I misspelled a word but ...

furan: very good 🙂 ^^ !

mycernus: that was what I was trying to do in the first place...

Okay. I'll be a good boy now... :sorry:

moop... i don't wanna say anything that might kick start more... um... eilness....

but... you really did come in... sounding determind to piss us all off.... and... well... yeah, i don't think that was so great cos of, well, the whole fact that what you have to say, to me at least, is actually really interesting... but people aren't gunna be happy if it's given to them in such.... well, a way as this....

and... about pinkkillerkisou.... you should really, um... well... not be harsh on her.... i have gaind a lot of respet for that girl, and she's always so considerate of others feelings and the first to help out if people make a mistake and such... and she's never bitter without cause...
and she is well informed... very much so... but she still doesn't claim to know everything...
but she's very much her own person... and... i'm not suprised she responded such as she did, because... well... yes....
but please...
yeah... don't be mean to her....

i know.... i'm a whimp.... but.... damnit... i don't like people getting mad >.<
pluss... i'm probably being stupid... pkk can defend her self 😌

and... i'm glad you decided to be a good boy.....

.... you wanna apologise by telling us the rest?

It's good that you are going to be kinder from now on :p I would really like to learn more about the history (love: back ground stuff/history ect.)
I'm new in this game, and has a lot to learn. But it's much nicer to learn it from a person that don't call you stupid. 😌
So, love to learn more about J-rock history and more about band as Diru (big Diru fan), Mucc, Gazette, Pierot, and so on.

:-) "In a nice tone" :-)

I don't know anything about a J-rock bibel, but if you have info. share!

Feel like I'm repeating myself :sorry: Sorry :sorry:

You're doing a horrible job of it, so far. Not all early indy bands (what are you referring to, 1950's nd 60's bands? Later than that? 70's and 80's, when the indies and major distinction came about?) were into the androgyne or kabuki look. Don't try to pretend that what you're saying is the end-all.

Wow, I never knew any of that...
It didn't really occur to me what the history of j-rock was before VK...
But don't be pissed on pkk for reacting the way she did. Just go back and read the first post you did.

And it seems you're the one pissed off...

Oh you think. That was kind of a nicer side of me. Eehツ… maybe I'm evil or somethingツ… :sorry:

Awツ… I wasn't trying to be mean to her. And how nice of you to care for her ^^ But I did say that she had nothing to be worried about since she said she already knew. :sorry:

Sure I'll share the info since that was my point. But I mean it's an old book hence the added notes. And some things are removed.

Er, didn't I say in the history of Hiiro Watanabe that the bible is created in the 70's. Surely he refer to those bands that never got famous, in the beginning of the 70's and by the way. Earlier than that were the highlights of Japanese pop.

what do you mean by; Don't try to pretend that what you're saying is the end-all.

And speaking of pop music.

ツ"Of course it would be impossible to exclude the big role that Japanese pop music play in all this. Masahiro Nakajima was the one (Added note: according to the underground Japanese paint/artistic life) that started it all. This was back in the late 50's and the beginning of the 60's. He was a modern artist that had set his life work on real people. He wanted his creation to move. (Added note: < quite famous quote by him, known mostly by modern artists of Japan) He was mad (Added note: like most artist in that time) and highly affected by opium and glue. But in this blur of illusions he knew what he wanted: To create the perfect image. After working a while on tailor dummies and hookers he was finished.

The result: A young innocent submissive woman, with the mind of a child. Her illusions would be somewhat like the paintings, a pink spot on a yellow wall.

A strange fact though, but Masahiro was actually gay. He died 1964 by rat poison (arsenic).

Now to the point, where we tie the loose ends of it all:
It's significant because of the thought behind it. The thought was somewhat stolen by Japanese rockers that also wanted to give a perfect image. (Added note: Mana Sama) Although musically it hasn't really so much in comment just that both music genres are extremely sick. (Added note: refers to early indie bands lyrics and also the sweet, cute love lyrics of J-pop) It's hard to explain with words what these two genres and lifestyles mean for each other but you could see it like Yin and Yang.

(Added note: This was just the starter of it all. In modern J-pop it's only a blurry illusion of Masahiro's work. The ideas are still there, but most is forgotten. Since manga and anime became famous, the J-pop got more influenced by that. It started to be like an escape for the youth of Japan, an escape for their pre-judged doom that they would face later. A psychological theme among both J-rock and J-pop. )

Visual kei and lolitas = harajukus

she meant that you've come in acting high and mighty as if you have some death-defying information for us that we can't live without. and also, your going about it in a manner that is pompous and ridiculous. hence her comment.
and i agree with furan, pinkkiller is damn respected here so mind what you say.
but thank you for that information, it was interesting to read. although ONLY that was interesting, all these other comments were just pointless and caused negative attention towards yourself. but hey if thats how you think you make friends and improve your social life thats your perogative....

ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha

I still dunno wot the hell is goin on

ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha

oooo hello rose, my msn just totally went on me so here i am. basic lowdown: this guy has come with information that he thinks we all should and need to know. ignore the title of this thread about him wanting to piss us off cause it clearly didn't work to his first plan, so he moved on to the second plan of insulting us. maybe he thought that by doing that we'd beg him for j-rock knowledge.... again, he failed and we're not too pleased. but (and thats a reluctant but) he has brought good information about the history of jrock so try and just read the bits from that book of his and ignore the other silly comments he's made.

i can see you're trying dear

(and i'm not trying to be patronising...)

thank you for the next does of information....
the talk about Masahiro Nakajima was interesting, as Japanese art is something i'm heavily into...
i know my favorit artist, Yashitomo Nara, is influenced by Jrock....
and he was a tean around this time... i believe.... and his childhood is also somehting that heavily influences him, so it's nice to know stuff about the social goings on then...

tho... i did kinda know most of the general stuff, i didn't know any dates or anything.

maybe you should take a look around the other threads on here too..... we're not all rabid fangirls, tho.... some of our omments are... er... rather silly 😊
but you might get a feeling for what people know around here and such... and may even learn a few things your self.....

isn't Harajuku a place? and how is music "gothic lolita"? this makes no sense...

i don't understand the importance of this... who wrote this book? o yes it's SUCH a secret you are just telling everyone... maybe the author just wrote a random book about japanese music and named it jrock bible... i mean Gothic and Lolita bible isn't a real bible...

please stop preaching...^^;;;
