The danger with online translator bots

This came up in another forum I'm on, and I thought I'd share the info here.

We often talk about the problems with online translation (Google, Yahoo, etc.). The thing is, they usually produce gibberish. Sometimes, however, it's not gibberish. It's just horribly, horribly wrong.

At one point, the Mariners manager Don Wakamatsu says Ichiro could probably play until he's 50. That's the heading of the section. In the original, ﾆ陳照谷ﾆ筑ﾆ団ﾅ?ﾃ??愿や?堙坂?啜窶唹ﾂ催寂?堙懌?堙??堙｢窶堙ｪ窶堙ｩ窶堙? So... how does Google translate that? "Director Wakamatsu is 50 years old and ****able".

So.

Let that be a warning to you all about the use of online translators.

Yep, I am in agreement with the Google translator, I also think Director Wakamatsu ****able! LOL

Yeah, the thing is though I know of Japanese people using them though without realizing how bad they are. People use them on their blogs, or even for their work assignments. In fact, I would not be surprised if that is how most of the nonsensical English T-shirts people wear here get made.
