Hi all, is it true that the kanji 治る is used to mean "curing of a sickness/injury", and everything else (curing bad habits, mending broken items) uses 直る?

if that's the case is 直る the best kanji to use for this sentence "その子は悪い癖がなおった。" or is 治る equally acceptable?

なおる(直る) means to go back to the original state (i.e. normal, as what it should be, correct, etc.).
In case of illness or injury, 治る is used.
Bad habit is something to be corrected, so unless the speaker regards the habit as a some kind of disease, 直る should be used, not 治る in normal conversation/context.
