Hi Everyone,
This is my first post on your forum and I am very pleased to be a member now. I am studying WW2 history and hope that the members here can assist in my research.
I have a number of index cards from the Burma campaign which are partly written in Kanji characters and am looking for help with translation. Attached is my first offering. Any help with the translation would be very much appreciated.
Mant thanks in advance.

Died 11.30am, 27th August Showa 18 (1943). Buried in Rangoon.

If you have a number of these it would be worth making up a list for your own reference list of date conversions from 昭和 (Showa) period years, since you'll see that format a lot. Year/Month/Day is the normal ordering.

Thank you nekojita, that was an amazingly quick response to my post. I have a fair understanding of the Showa date structure, it was the information on the first line that was all important.

I have other cards which may have slightly more detail, but for now, many thanks indeed.

Best wishes

Steve
