News Seasonal yellow sand from China blanket skies across Japan

From the north to the west, a vast swath of Japan is expected to experience seasonal yellow sand on 25 and 26 March, potentially reducing visibility and worsening respiratory conditions. The Japan Meteorological Agency warns that some areas' visibility may drop below five kilometres. Residents are advised to take precautions when drying laundry outdoors, and traffic disruptions are possible. The JMA attributes the influx of dust to strong westerly winds carrying large amounts of sand from deep within China's desert regions, driven by low-pressure systems.

Yellow sand was observed in Osaka at 6 a.m. on March 25, and visibility has deteriorated, mainly in western Japan. The JMA said a wide area from Kyushu to Tohoku may be affected.
