You shouldn't be so hung up on "finding Japanese people" via the internet. Chances are even if you were to send out a thousand messages, less than 5% of those who replied would actually be who you think they are. Worst case scenario: that cute little J-popper with the sexy ponytail you've been insta-messaging might just turn out to be 45 year-old Karl the dockloader from Mobile, 'Bama.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. By making their nationality a priority (or even a factor) in looking for a mate (or even just friends, really), you've already doomed yourself to failure.

Despite the fact that Japanese is the third most common language on the internet, Japanese people seem less likely to wander outside the sphere of Japanese language sites. Even on sites about Japan, Japanese people are a tiny minority.

isnt it true that japanese youth are highly interested in western culture and fashion??? correct me if im wrong but ive noticed most japanese videogames have alot of western characters in them, obviously ive considered this is mainly due to to majority of western gamers but every documentary ive watched on modern japan has alot of content of western influences on japan especially fashion.could be misinformed but i just thought id raise the point.

by the way that statement might seem completly unrelated i just thought there would be a majority of japanese seeking a similiar outcome, western penpals,partners and so on.

Some youth is really interested in it, some are not. Same as in the Netherlands or any other country some are interested in eastern culture some are not. I mean it's not that Japan is that big and isn't able to import anything from other countries.
