put me AT the world

If it was me id naturally say "on top of the world." Maybe this is a one off though. So i say humans are AT the top of the food chain. to be AT is a place but ON is like above.
Im not good at explaining maybe haha but you sit ON a chair but AT the table.

I think both sentences would have pretty much the same meaning with either words, but there are subtle differences.
"At" is a general area. "I am at school." "Come home at 7."
"On" is "on top of". "Sit on the chair." "Walk on the grass."
But in this instance, I think you could use either and still have the same meaning.
