Ok, I guess I do know something after all....shock horror!
The INS dept of Portland, Ore had been forcibly removed a couple of years ago due to the De-Portland status the Immigration section of the Portland airport had up to that point....and, having personally been affected by the bloody idiots there, I can say with some expertise that I'm glad the leader of their INS club got canned (even though officially he resigned).
The whole incident became internationally known after a Chinese woman was held by the local INS personnel at the airport, strip searched by (a female) officer and held in confinement for several hours (could have been the entire weekend, I don't recall), then, without given the chance to even tell her co-workers or people at the destination she was headed to anything, she was promptly deported (thus giving the airport the DePortland nickname). This caused Delta airlines to cancel all direct flights to Japan as a result, and business has taken a nosedive in the region around the mushroom forest (aka silicon forest).
Now that that unpleasant situation has been buried in the past, Portland is still struggling to get back on track again, but from where I sit, it is still the backwater Tattoine of the galaxy, far far away from all the action, and the economy still sux!
I'm not getting anybody down, am I? I ought not like to think I'm getting anybody down..... LOL
so there you have it.....Portland is now open for your cash dollars and they can use all the help they can get in getting their backwards thinking city officials to start attracting tourists and business types again
