Plz Help Me

Hi to all you able computer wizz'z's

I currently have an OS that is windows ME, but i have had it for smtime and it causes me troubles, and i have sm stuff wrong with it, and now i got my hands on a cd of XP pro. I want to install xp pro, but as a clean version, i want to erase all the records of the previeous windows and the programs in the registry as they can be reininstalled easily, but I however, want to keep my precious animes, music, movies, pictures, documents etc. Could someone help me as how to go about this? I went online trying to look up guides, but they confused me a bit more, and I just want to be sure that I dont do anythng wrong cuz it took me a while to arrange my folders, write my school papers, etc etc, so if anyone has a suggestion on how I can go about this, then plz let me know, or if anyof u know a good manual/guide online thenplz give me a link

It Works For Me !!!

I have an external hard drive. It's very easy to (in Windows XP Home) to drag & drop things(folders, programs etc) from the "C" drive to the external drive.I leave the external drive unplugged except for when I transfer things so no worry about it getting screwed up some how. Once you have the new XP loaded & running, you can go to the external and put things back to the "C" drive.
If you have a recording unit(CD-RW or DVD RECORDER) you can download things you want to use & save to a disk and put them back when you get up & running with the XP.

Yeah, I thought of this, but it would take to many cd's and I dont have the money for an external HD yet, but im sure there is like a way to do this cuz i read it somwhere, but i just dont know how

I'm no expert, but can't you just create a partition on the hard drive you have now? Drag all files that you want to save into the new partition, then install XP on the original?

Yeah, I just realized that I could CC1, but just a matter of figuring it out on how to do it safely before i mess it up.

The easiest way is to get/create some boot-floppies. Start up from those and delete the whole Windows-folder from your harddrive. That way all other data on the drive will remain intact (except for personal settings and everything you saved on your desktop).

After that you can just boot from the XP-cd and get yourself a clean install.
