Our reasons for naming our screen names

i like puns.

it was only after I picked the name that I discovered there was an old band that had a similar-sounding name.

edit: wow Hachiro, eighth!? that's quite a clan you have there. You aren't Mormon by any chance?

No not quite, raised Catholic, which should explain it all.:giggle: :o :giggle:

And your name fits you well, at least the first word.🙂

I explained my name in this thread, so I'll copy-and-paste it here:

My profile name is a variation of my real first names: Leon Marijn. I didn't give it much thought until a few years ago, but Leon means lion (in Spanish, with a ' on the o), and Marijn is derived from Marine, so it means something like "from the sea".. I came to the conclusions my dear parents named me after a Sea-Lion!! (笑) My first thought was: "Why?", quickly followed up by: "I must have been really fat when I was born.." (笑) Anyways, I find Spanish a beautiful language, so I thought I'd name myself Leon Marino; sea-lion in Spanish.

By the way I confronted my parents about this and their reaction was: "Oh.. We didn't know.. That's funny." (笑)

Mine is a random word that i made up, but some people mistake me for "oasis". ツ(ツ湘篠)

Flanker....by any chance, do you fly Lock On: Modern Air Combat? I think you and me should do a little 1v1 in the Flanker:box:

As far as this thread. I have been using this user name since I have begun doing on-line air-to-air combat with the flight simulation Jane's F-15. But besides doing the air-to-air combat I would do a crap load of bombing runs, for like matches where you have to destroy the base first. I was very good at what I did.

At the same time, I was working on a Hasegawa model of Han -Ulrich Rudel's Ju-87D-5 Stuka. He was one of the most famous of the German WWII bomber pilots with over 700 ground kills. He is the only German to be awared the Gold Ritter-kreuz with oak-leaves, diamonds and swords.

I figured since I was so good at bombing in on-line flight simulations that I would continue to use his last name as my user name. And I still use it 'till this very moment on all forums.

Don't Hesitate & Go came from Miyavi's lyrics from 'Pop is dead' it's one of his most famous lines from that song..

He also has it tattooed below his belly button

My username is Ghettocities, my real name is Josh Sehrer (pronounced "Say er"), my rap name is Bias Dogooder and I sometimes go buy Cecil Mcbee, heh.

Josh

My favourite book's title is Against The God, hence the abbreviation atg

Clawn is the main character of a story I wrote a long time ago, and I've used the name for everything ever since. ^_^

I was sure I'd posted in this thread already, but I can't find my post...
never mind... ^^

As a kid of about 10 years, I used to make up codes with my friends, and we used to write our names in them. In one of the codes, my name came out as 'Kinsao Ikioa'. (I have no idea what code we used, because it doesn't even have the same number of letters as my real name! O_o) It was the only 'code name' that was remotely pronounceable! :D -- hence it kinda stuck. When I joined this forum, I thought it had a kind of east Asian flavour to it, so I used that name. 😌

My name is my name. And it is a sexy name at that. However, do not confuse my name for Mexican. My name is to Andreas as Andy is to Andrew. Essentially, it means something along the lines of Manly and Courageous, but I have neither of these qualities.

it's my name. couldnt think of anything better :) well, i wanted to change it later, couse i get bored to look at my name on forum.. but i kept it, its kind of unusal for this forum :)

🙂

Where did you get your nickname from?

Please share us the story behind your nickname, since we all got it from some kind of inspiration.

Mine is simple...

Ayu = No, not the fish, but Ayumi (Hamasaki)

youkou = sunshine

I just wanted something with my idol what is Ayumi Hamasaki and came up with this at the end...for some it may sound like an odd name, but I like the ring it has and could come up with some other odd reasons, like;

1) The WWII song "you are my sunshine, my only sunshine..." as in Ayumi is my sunshine 😍

2) Japan is the land of the rising sun, so Ayumi symbolises the rising sun with her PURE voice and stunning looks. And this little sunshine never goes under for me once it is risen.

I know... 😌 😌

Now your turn ^_^

Well I like Live= "I started living in.."
91= year I was born in
Pretty simple.

Friggin' "username," was it? I was looking for that earlier, but my search criteria weren't quite right, and I found nothing like what I was looking for.

Oh shoot...

Didn't notice and in the future better use that feature to search then I guess :(

It's a bit tricky Glenn, sometimes the search-function is not so good.
@Ayu: It's ok, but if you do a quick search with some keywords before you post a new thread it could save you a lot of time :)

I know. You have any idea how long it took me to find the threads I needed to post that sticky about typing in Japanese?!

[exact copy from my profile page on GO]

I'm Raven.

Jelle Raven Deconick.

Whats with the raven thing?

Well I had no middle name,so I picked one.

Why Raven?

none,of your buisness, but cause I'm nice like that.

I'll tell.

It started out when I never even had heard of gaia,Drowtales, invision powerboards or Jref.

I was gaming,and needed a clan name.

Because of the Flying Forces, the name had to be a bird or flying object.

I picked out Raven.

So my name became -=[FF]=-raven for a while.

Eventually It shifted over from clan to my friends clan, and became #DEA!Raven

Then I quit that game alltogether, and IT became Raven.

B-But your name is Wandering Raven...

Shut UP

I'm still talking.

I joined

Drowtales.

Raven was taken there,so It became wanderer.

On gaiaonline I started out as Shinra-Soldier.

That became The Red Raven half a year later.

After that it shifted to this.

A mix of Wan,and Raven.

Both parts of me to remember.

Still..why I kept raven, even after leaving the FF?

I started to discover stuff in about my family,In my alchemy books.

everything thusly pointing it was more a fate to get that name.

Raven,AKA PVTREFACTIO,what feasts on the remains of dead ,of everything that perishes.

Life, sprung from death, the raven comes and goes.

It ....Wanders.

Kinda interesting no?

I've been using the nickname on the Internet since '97 now and it originated from reading a lot about Zen (which really has got nothing to do with Buddhism or any other religion at its core) at the time. 'Satori' is a zen term that is usually translated as 'englightenment', but I find 'insight' to be a more fitting term and it played a big role in what my life and I was about at the time. And then I tried to make the term sound like a name or personal description of somebody looking and searching for insight and appended -an. Hence, Satorian.

Oh, yeah, I'm still searching and looking. Not much progress yet. Hints and pointers appreciated.
