Does anyone know much about this city?

Oita is a "sister-city" of my city (Austin, Texas) and I just wanted to see if anyone on here had been there or if anyone knows much about it:

i know it's in oita prefecture... lol

i was going to go to oita, but didn't unfortunately. i know it's close to beppu, which apart from having a really cool name is famous for it's hot springs. not my cup of tea but hey.
