nuance of 思い入りました

こんにちは皆さん、
In the following sentence, what is the grammar behind 思い入りました. It looks as if it is a noun in front of a verb. I know this happens with noun plus する i.e 勉強する to study.

今日はラーメンを食べようと思い入りました。
my interpretation is.
Today as I entered, I thought of trying the Raman.

Two interpretations are possible, 1)the polite past of 思い入る and 2)思い、入りました, i.e., the continuous usage of the -masu stem, but it would be the latter "I thought ~ and entered." Anyway, 思い is not a noun there.

I'm terribly sorry to interrupt the thread, but how can one tell if it is the first or second interpretation?

I thought, because I didn't see the comma, that it was the first interpretation.

That is challenging.
思い入りました。In the first link is says to ponder to contemplate.
That makes alot of sense when spoken in English.
Today, I contemplated trying Ramen.
Is there any way in determining? As both ways sound correct.

It totally depends on the context, as always, but I have to point out a fact that the combined verb 思い入る is quite rarely used(another form 思い入れる is more common, or the noun form 思い入れ you might have already seen), whereas と思い、入りました is a very common expression enough to be easily understandable even without the comma in an appropriate context.
