Hey - my name's Brian, and I'm a guy from the U.S.

I'm not going to kid you: teaching English in Japan would be primarily to make money, pay off student debts, get some teaching experience to see if I like -teaching- and save money for an eventual move to New Zealand. While I have an M.A., all the jobs in my field pay around $20-32K anyway and if I'm only going to be making that much, I might as well try this Japan thing. Yes, it's a committment. So was grad school, and if I don't like it - it's a job, it's a year, and it's something interesting that not everyone does with their lives.

So I'm seriously considering taking an eikaiwa post.

Right now I'm trying to figure out which companies to apply to - which are the scams, what would probably be best. I'm very interested in Nova's multimedia program, JET, and AEON. My friend is doing Footprints Recruiting to teach in Taiwan - he's the guy that recommended it. I'm not sure I'd do well teaching little, little kids but teenagers I could probably handle.

Anyway - that's the story. Feel free to give me a PM - I'll be subscribing to this thread if you have any advice.

The sun shines sweet on my ole Shinano home, while the grass and weeds are smugly smiling, knowing in their very fiber that another sweep of rain is just over the horizon, slowing rolling down from the build-up of rain clouds against the Japan Alps. I extend my greetings to, and I hope you join in with us more as time goes by.

Talk to you later ! 🙂
