New at Japanese. Any advice is welcome!

I have just started to learn Japanese and was hoping I could get some advice on some things I should add to my study time. Right now I have an mp3 audio flashcard that I listen to when I go to and from school. Its about 45 minutes long so I listen to the whole thing twice a day. It goes over almost 800 words from the jlpt N5. I'm also memorizing the hiragana and practicing how to write it. I have 1,000 kanji that I'm planning on memorizing by grade once I finish the hiragana. Is there anything I should add before, after, or maybe even during I learn these three things? I guess what I'm wondering is, am I doing this in the right order and am I leaving anything out? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

Don't forget the grammar. I think learning hiragana, katakana and a beginners grammar book is my number one tip. The grammar book will have beginners vocabulary as well so you can start using some every day expressions quickly.

I don't think you started to aim for JLPT N5 is a good first step. You better get some text books like Minna no Nihongo AND take a class.
