Hello, I just bought this fantastic painting. It has some Japanese writing and I haven't been able to figure out what it says. I would really appreciate the help, I don't want to hang it up without knowing, thanks!

The original would be 誰能富貴不奢華 輪與春来第一花, but it seems like written by someone who doesn't actually know kanji/Chinese characters.

I don't think the OP ever came back to check for replies....

i think thats fine for her,
as long as the replies are useful to the other people who are curious to know too :)

may need to thanx her to start the post :)

You completely misinterpreted the first sentence. It's a rhetorical question. You should give at least the correct translation for being useful to the other people.

yes, everything can be discussed, giving and receiving argument
and the people who knows better can teach.

PS.sorry for my broken English

just notice that the its character 輪 = wheel not 輸 = lose
sorry for the mistake (or actually according to the website translation its 輸 ?)

is it possible that the text is ?
--------------------------------------------------------
誰能富貴不繁華
輸與春來第一花
--------------------------------------------------------
Can the above mean : ?

who can become rich but does not enjoy it,
is not as good as the spring's first blooming flower.

The problem is the writer actually didn't know kanji/Chinese characters, as I pointed out previously. Most likely even they themselves wouldn't be able to read what they wrote.
As for your quote, those are two sentences, and you misinterpreted the verb 輸與.

Thank you for your comment Toritoribe,

for my first interpretation, I feel sorry that its my careless, since I'm not good at Japanese
so I instead use a translation website to translate the interpreted text in Japanese obtained from
the first link, and also my confusion between the character 輪 and 輸.

BTW I have put my opinion also at one of the Chinese Forum

can you help me translate this poem - Tattoos, Names and Quick Translations - Chinese-forums.com

asking for comment of my interpretation
and one comment helps suggest that this phrase 第一花 , indicates the 牡丹(peonies)
which can also be noticed that its the title 白牡丹 (white peonies) of the whole part of the poem composed by 李漁 ,the painting OP has may be depicting Peonies ?

so (correct me where I'm wrong) the interpretation text could be :

誰能富貴不繁華
輸與春來第一花
--------------------------------------------------------
who can become rich but does not enjoy it,
is not as good as the spring peonies
(which bloom to welcome and enjoy the arrival of spring).

P.S. for many reason in my personal opinion, the writer of the poem may know the characters and meaning.

The writer would know the original poem, but they were definitely not familiar with kanji/Chinese characters. They just mimicked the kanji, and as a result, did so many obvious mistakes that Japanese/Chinese people or those who really know the characters never do.

I already replied to your translation of the poem.

Thanx for your explanation of the irregularity of the writing characters
in the poem,

As for the word 輸與,
from my understanding it has meaning of :
比不上 = "cannot compare with"
which in my mind its meaning is close to "as good as" or "not equal to" or "inferior to" as well

輸與_词语「輸與」解释_輸與 的解释 - 汉语大词典 - 国学大师

or it also has some other rhetorical definitions,
Would you mind giving me an advice,

Thank you in advance

I don't understand why you eager to know the meaning of a fake writing on other's picture (it's not even yours), but you'd better to ask it in a Chinese forum if you want to interpret a classical Chinese poem just out of curiosity.
