Hello,

I'm currently researching the genealogy of my Japanese ancestry and I'm trying to locate my family's koseki.

I read online that if you know the town where your ancestors are from then you can contact the town's city hall and order a koseki.

My great, great grandparents came from Onyu, Obama in the Fukui Prefecture . I'm not sure if Onyu is a town but Obama is coming up as a town when I google it. Since I can't read Japanese and search Japanese websites I was wondering if someone could help my find an email address for the Onyu or Obama town hall. I have other ancestors from Shiida-machi, aza Takatsuka, Fukuoka-ken.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!! A koseki would give me great insight into my family's lineage. If anyone has an tips on obtaining a koseki that would be great as well!!

Thank you :)

Onyu/Onyū(遠敷) is a place name of Obama-shi(小浜市). Obama-machi(小浜町) merged with seven villages to form Obama-shi(小浜市) in 1951. You can see the e-mail address of Obama-shi at the end of their web site.

Shiida-machi(椎田町) merged with Chikujo/Chikujō-machi(築城町) to form Chikujo/Chikujō-machi(築上町) in 2006. You can see the e-mail address of Chikujo-machi at the end of their web site.

Hope this helps you to get information about your ancestors.:)

Thank you!!! For that information on the villages and also for the fast reply!

Anyone interested in translating an email that I will need to write to them to order a koseki?? Please private message me :)

OR

Anyone know of a reasonable translation service? I have a feeling it will be a back and forth thing.

How about to send an e-mail in English? I believe there must be people who can understand English in the city/town.
