What's up everyone
I'm currently trying to contact some japanese artists for artwork related stuff, but my japanese is extremely limited. So I'm going to run what I've written so far by you guys, so that I don't end up sending something incoherent.
Few things to note, I think the artists that I contacted do speak some limited amount of English, judging from what I found on their homepages and guestbooks. I've already contacted one or two before thinking that what I wrote was probably heavy-handed and crude.
But anyways, here's what I have written:
Hi
Your artwork is awesome
I'm sorry/excuse me, do you accept commissions?
Do you understand english? I'm sorry my japanese is not skilled.
こんにちは
あなたのアートワークがすごいです
すみません, お仕事は募集しておりますか?
英語がわかりますか?
ごめん, ぼくのにほんごは腕がない
The more I think about it, the more that what I wrote sounds unintentionally forceful. So with that said, I'm wondering what I can add/change in a followup letter to make my request more "polite" and polished up in general.
On a different note, I've been trying to figure out how to say something in Japanese. I've roughly translated one line from an artist's homepage, but I'll post the whole thing so I don't misinterpret it.
リンク、アンリンクはいつでもフリーです。
よっぽど変な所に貼られない限り、割とOK。
現在、相互のお申し込みにはお答え出来ません。悪しからずご了承下さいませ。
バナーは、以下二種類のうちどちらかを御使用下さい。
お持ち帰り/直リンクどちらでも可です。
From what I understand, the artist says: "I am currently not able to accept personal requests. I'm sorry, please understand."
The other stuff is related to linking the site and banners.
What I'm trying to ask this artist is whether or not he or she will be able to accept personal requests at a much later time. And possibly politely ask if the artist understands any English or is able to tolerate really undeveloped japanese.
I.......have absolutely no idea how to say that in Japanese however. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
