The use of 了解しました I understand has no one English equivalent, but I'm just wondering what it is closest in tone. OK, thanks Mikawa ! What must have been bugging me was my ignorance that it even had a common use between friends (了解！）, but he does tend to be a fairly formal kinda guy. Anyway, I suppose nothing can be done now until I understand the situation better.

I think RPin-san did a good job with his translation for a non-Japanese, but we do not use "ni wa" like he did there.

How strange. That word/particle hasn't been introduced at all in my book. But it wouldn't be the first time they drop things in during earlier chapters that are introduced later. That does seem easier to understand if you put it that way.

There's a great variety and these are a little on the formal side but will themselves convey "taking trouble" without having to state it explicitly.
Anything irregular in the grammar someone else will need to provide correction.

Jayern, Do you mean a picture with her in it or the two of you together (taken yourself?) or asking a third person for one with you both ?

Anyway, I think the easiest needs to be attaching 撮ってもいい used when asking permission to do something.

Ah that's what was bothering me. I couldn't quite remember how to make it mean "Making him.." without consecutive "を" particles, because that isn't grammatically correct. Right? Such as

Speaking hypothetically, the second を will be dropped.

There's no grammar that requires the meaning one way or the other with a transitive verb, though, unless タナカさん is of a higher status and it is equally unnatural to force a person of that level to do anything....

ですから、この文には二つの解釈ができると思いますよ。

でも、「準備をする」は仕事の事だと思うかも。。。英語でも、Given the privilege of preparing,
allowed to do this work は普段使う事はほとんどないんですね。
状況から判断するとこういう内容になるかな？
