Need a word or phrase translated?

This may sound stupid but I play some games and I have no idea how I would take names like Magioz, Bandoz, Sinoz, Spearoz and make it Japanese? If anyone can give me some tips on turing gaming type names into Japanese?

Right now I'm just learning off videos for speaking Japanese so writing it is out of my league right now.

If you have studied Japanese syllables, you shouldn't have any trouble coming up with transliterations for names. Just remember that names are written in kana based on how they are pronounced, not how they are spelled.

Go ahead and give it a shot if you feel up to it.

Alright, I looked at my Katakana chart since these words like Magioz arn't Japanese, I came up with these, now I take it its 100% wrong but Im trying!

Magioz
マギオ

I came up with Magio since I can't find "z" by itself in Japanese.

So I tried another name.

雄牛の歯

(I did this using Hiragana)

I doubt anything I did was right, I still don't understand how to use non Japanese names and put them into japanese.

Canada in Japanese is kanada.

So when I type Canada I get this:

カナダ

And this with Kanada. I'm a bit confused on how it works out to be the same . :S Any help please.

Most likely because the IME realized that there's no "c" in Japanese, but that it can be pronounced [k], so it just substitutes it.

You're right that there's no "z" by itself in Japanese, so you use ズ, because the is a weak vowel in Japanese (by that I mean that it gets devoiced a lot).

It looks good to me, but I'm wondering where you got the idea that Japanese doesn't have a "b."

I believe I should always use Katakana for these non japanese names too. I just didn't know if when I get any name I should just type it as I see it such as these:

That chart isn't quite complete, in that it doesn't have the voiced versions of the kana that have them (and the "b" and "p" for the "h" row). You see those two lines above the characters? That's called dakuten, and it means that the sound is voiced; e.g., "k" -> "g," "t" -> "d." The little circle is handakuten, or "half-voiced" (although that isn't really accurate). There's a historical reason for why it's written that way, but the thing to remember is that "h" -> "b" (with dakuten) and "h" -> "p" (with handakuten). That's the only row like that.

that chart is incomplete, it does not contain diacritical marks which create vowel sounds for g, d, z, b, and p:

Also, there is a difference between translation and transliteration. What you have done with Bulltooth, for instance, is translation (雄牛の歯), and it does indeed mean bull's tooth. However, for names and the like, it's probably a better idea to transliterate (that is, to convert English pronunciations to Japanese ones). Bullstooth is one of those names that doesn't transliterate very well, but using kanji and kana changes the meaning (from a character's name to an actual object). It's not an exact science; you can really only get close.

ps: bulltooth in katakana would probably be ボルトュース. the smaller characters are yet another way of making different sounds. This is an unusual combination, but it's the closest I could come to the English pronunciation.

It could be other meanings depending on the context, though. Like "Watch your step", or "Be careful", etc. But usually, when just "Oki wo tsukete", it's "Take care", I believe.

The problem with this is that, sometimes, I remember japanese words that I previously studied but can no longer recall the meaning.

How do you pronounce Magioz? If it is like magic then you need to use a ジ not a ギ. ギ sounds like gee not like ji.

Magi is the correct term for Magic, I wasn't too sure if it was right or not. However as I learn Japanese I will be able to figure these things out easier.

How you would say it would be.

Ohh, OK OK, sorry for confusing you.
Well, my answer is that's because I don't translate word-to-word, oliverf san.
If I did, some sentence would look unnatural. However, in the case of BIG WELCOME, I could/should have said "daikangei". As for "youkoso irasshaimashita" , it is an expression(kimari kotoba) when we welcome someone.

Nazonazo and nazo are two different things. The word nazonazo is only used to refer to each riddle question and the riddle games itself. On the other hand, "nazo" is more like "mystery" or "unknown stuff" and it has more wide range of usage.
There are way too many repeating words in Japanese such as:

• onaka ga pekopeko de mou hatarake masen
• atama ga gangan suru kara kusuri wo kudasai
• ano hito ha iraira shiteiru
• hoshi ga kirakira hikaru
• onna no ko ga shikushiku naite iru
• Kare no doudou to shita taido ha miryokuteki da

Hmm, seems like none of them has a meaning when it doesn't repeat...but there might be some that do.
I hope someone will post a better answer.

皆さん is read みなさん. I guess by itself it could be read みんな, but that reading isn't listed in the 新漢語林 (Shin Kangorin), although they also don't have きく as a reading for 訊, so I'm not so sure how common it is for Japanese people to see 皆 and say みんな.

Japanese people don't say みんなさん. It's either みなさん or みんな (although I suppose みな on its own is fine too).

[Disclaimer] Every time I post the above information somewhere, some non-Japanese person seems to tell me that it's wrong, only to have Japanese people say "no, we don't say みんなさん." I'm just saying this now so that I can avoid the argument yet again.
