Need a word or phrase translated?

Thanks for the link, although I haven't had a chance to check it out yet I have seen "nouryoku de wa nai" translated as not competent, so that part may be alright -- although that's also been rephrased in conversation as "nouryouku ga nai."
Of course both "nouryoku de wa nai" and "nouryouku ga nai" are entirely different from the point of 'politeness' to saying you _have_ nouryouku.

And the second reibun is from a native speaker, so, well, hopefully that's OK as well. :p
Doesn't that rather depend on whether you're boasting down the pub or writing a CV?

"Because I have the competence....." is a bit off in English without a referent, but it does come off more polite to me than "Because I am competent," although for talking about other people I'm not sure such a distinction would still hold. Competent for what ? In the case of a superior, "to manage the affairs of the department" is mentally filled in by the listener. Although in Japanese of course I have no idea....

本当に美しさは本にの心が作る(り?)物さ。 この話では、心の美しさな大事なことを教えています。

Taken from an audio transcript, so apologies for any missed notes -- but I wanted confirmation on the first one that it should be Tsukuru (not tsukuri).
Or, that Real beauty is made by a pure heart. For tsukurimono to work, this bit 本当に美しさは would necessarily be referring to physical beauty. Outer beauty is a pure heart fake

英語で「I also recommend the use of 'sainou ga aru'」の方が適切です。 それとも、 「I also recommend using 'sainou ga aru'」 の文もありますね。
訂正ありがとうございます! とても助かります。 🙇
一瞬、wakaPさん の投稿を見ると「えっ? 私が勧めた言葉じゃないか」と思って、 日本語のを読んだら/あと「なるほど」 と思いました。😌
alsoを入れると、the use of 'sainou ga aru'「も」勧めるという意味になると思ったんですよ。 :p
I also recommend XXは「私もXXを勧める」
I recommend also XXは「私はXXも勧める」
と理解していいですか? :?

In this instance, 'I (would) also recommendXXX' is bestです.
OR
I would recommendXXXas wellはGood.
OR
I would recommendXXXalsoがOKです。
OR
I recommend also XXXはNG unless the clause part is expanded into something such as "I (would) recommend also that you use "XXX"と文はよくなると思います。 😌

Elizabethさん、ありがとうございます。🙇 :note:

alsoは日本語の「も」に似てますね。
I also :私も
XXX also:XXXも

I would recommend XXX as wellもOKだとは全く知りませんでした。
'as *** (as)' をもっと勉強しなくちゃ。 :(

私の知っている限り、その場合英語のAlsoとAs wellを意味するのに「も、そのうえ、もはた」などが使われる場合が あります。ただし、As well asという成句はちょっと違うけど。。。
I would recommend XXX as wellそういう文にはAs well asが使われていないと思います。:note: 😌

As well as の方は次のように使ってますでしょう。

"As well as buying car insurance I also suggest you join the AA*"

* AA = Roadside car repair service.

多分日本語だと「A as well as B」では、一般的にAが強調されるが、Paulさんの例文のような「AのほかにBも」を意味するときもあるでしょう。

昨日、中級の日本語の本をかいました。この文がわかり ません。
「実は、中学の時、隣に日本人の家族が住んでいて、こ の一郎君っていう男の子といつも遊んでいたんですよ。 」
でも、「As a matter of fact, when I was in junior High School a Japanese family lived next to us and I always played with their boy, Itchiroo-kun」と言う意味だと思います。

* I give up asking in Japanese, sorry about that...
What I wonder is:
Have I understood the sentence?
Why 一郎君っていう男の子 and not 一郎君という男の子?

Yes.

I don't think there is much significance. って is probably a little less formal.

And why っていう and not simply って? IF って is already the contracted form of というのは、the redundancy is really icky. :p

Aha but って is much more flexible than that. It doesn't have to be the full というのは it can just as well be the equivalent of と alone.

[EDIT] Darn, there goes my 1,000 post count :D

辞書にも、そのように書いてありました。
多くの使い方があるsimple wordは、難しいですね。

ElizabethさんやPaulさんにとって、 使い方が難しいのは
どんな日本語ですか? :-)

さあ~。 :?

作文の練習が少ないため、普通の文章にときどきバカな間違いをします。 :p
ええと、それに敬語はちょっと難しいですね。 😌

I wonder if anyone here can help me with this word. While translating something I encountered the katakana phrase "ラーラマースィー" which in romaji would be "raaramaasuii."

I'm assuming it must be some sort of slang adopted into Japanese from English or some other language, but I can't seem to find the meaning for it anywhere.

There is no romanji.

ra-rama-swi- to me.

Context, context, context.

Actually it looks like the phrase is actually
ラーラーマースィー
In which case it's probably something silly like "rah rah" (as in cheerleader chant) Marsie (as in a girl's name)

私にとってやっぱり聞き取りが最も苦手なのでしょうね。文法的な間違いですけど。。。つながり言葉((の)ような、という、のは、のが、とは など)や天爾乎波の正しい使い方は本当に挑戦しています。なんとなく今でも文のつなぎ方がちょっと不自然だにならないと思います。 :p
で、細かい文法の間違いが沢山あると思いますが、それが多かったら、不自然表現も含めこめて
訂正してください。

Looks like a "katai" word to me as well....
but for emphasizing 'postposition' is there really anything better ?

It seems as though the proper word is 格助詞.

I'll leave home tomorrow to make a business trip and to visit my parents house, and after about 10 days I'll come back home. See you later again. というのが「ところで」の一般的な使い方ですね。 :-)

alright can someone tell me what these mean? I have an idea for 2 of them, the 2 last ones I have no idea.

Nanio shite imakka = what are you doing? (I`m not sure if this is right)
Nan yan nen = what`s your problem? (I`m not sure if this is right)
Ite motaroka = ?
sappari waya ya = ?
