Does this seem correct. I am reading the Car Lot pamphlet I picked up from Japan and was trying to translate some of the simple stuff.

That isn't ひとり, it's ぴたり, which means "exact" here. So the sentence means something like "I want to find the perfect car for me."

Just a typo in the 7th paragraph,
これを聞いたユキが「何があったんですか。離してください」と言いました。
離してください=>話してください

I'm wondering how you interpret her mind leaving her home for the sake of her child.

I'm not sure if this ever got worked out or not, but 演じている is fine as a verb, (you could also use やっている with the same meaning）; 荒んでいる is read
すさんでいってる basically that something is deteriorating or losing power. The other two should be available in any decent dictionary.

Oops, thanks for that. I've fixed the typo.

I didn't mean to say that she left home for the sake of her child/children. I guess it's not very clear, the way I wrote it in English. I only thought that, for the children's sake, she would not kill him. Here's how I interpreted it literally:

子供のために、命はとらない
For the sake of the child(ren), I will not take your life.

けれど、私はもうここには居られない
However, I am not able to be here anymore.

Does this seem right to you?

I sometimes wonder what non-Japanese people feel after they read J folk tales without happy endings.

I'm having trouble figuring out how to say something along the lines of "love flickers and it's life repeats again"

恋はちらちらしてその命が繰り返した

.. is what I got so far, but it sounds wrong. Can you correct it for me? Preferably using as many of those words as possible, and as few changes to keep the intended meaning, ne. thanks!!

So what is the use of とは／って?

the difference とは/って is written or formal/conversational

I suppose とは is the particle mainly having following meanings:
1. definition: Aとは、Bです。
2. comparison: AとBとは、違うものです。
3. surprise: Aさんが、男だったとは...

This part of the passage and how it relates to the guy's arrest is a little confusing to me. I understand it details the actual incident, that he passed through a man and woman on the street, was ordered to halt, suddenly brandished a knife and stabbed him (in the stomach). He apparently forced his way between them and was asked to stop, by the police or victims, before actually doing anything. But why is it included in the part on his arrest and not in the first sentence where the story begins ? Is this because it is testimony of the victim and wasn't known by the police until their investigation ? :?

I'm sure that is true, you can even see guns visible on the outer clothing of a policeman in the US. Plus this story happened in Kamitakaido where my good friends live which was my interest in it, fortunately they were on vacation at the time.

But I still can't smoothly translate the below sentence. Is it saying the guy who lives near the scene of the crime was arrested for passing between a man and woman from behind, behind called to halt, suddenly pulling a knife and stabbing.

逮捕されたのは、現場近くに住む野口隆司容疑者（３９歳）で、歩いていた男女２人の後ろから間を割って通り過ぎたため、呼び止められ、突然持っていたナイフで刺したということです。

I imagine the situation...
Just after A past the couple with A's intention to cause some troubles,
"hey what the hell are you doing?", B said.
"hey what are you talking about?", A said.
During the heated quarrel started, suddenly A stabbed B without any reasons and ran away.
I'm afraid that the people turn more and more frustrated.

A bit off topic, but now I am into Edo culture.
Some say that Edo was 3 times more dense city than present Tokyo. Edo people knew good tips how to survive the terribly packed city life. The tips were called 江戸しぐさ. It is very interesting.
