Need a word or phrase translated?

Thank you!

I have a doubt, シロナガスクジラ refers to a specific whale, the "blue whale", right? But If I just want to say that some whale is blue, can I say あおいクジラ?
Yes and yes.

I have problems with these two sentence.
First one: what is the 元・漢字圏 thing?
And in the second : found again 非漢字圏.
Quite lost, lack of sleep, thanks for your help.
漢字圏
countries(literally "area") that use kanji

元・漢字圏
countries that used to use kanji

非漢字圏(= negative of 漢字圏)
countries that don't use kanji

Just out of curiosity, is that 日本人の知らない日本語?

EDIT:
Oh, nekojita-san beat me!

I understand now.

Thanks!

Yes, it's that one.

I've learned lots of things. It's very interesting!!

I hope there will be a third volume.

Another question... sorry...
This is the extract about names given to things that look like :

: 中国の本によく出てくる「鮪」つて魚何だと思う?
2: 描写からしてかなりでかいぞ
3: でかくて珍重される魚っていったら

4: チョウザメ
5: 2~3m以上
6 : マグロだな
7: ホンマグロ
8: 2~3m以上
9 : きっと、そうだ!
10: 鮪はマグロに決定

I don't understand at all the three sentences. The rest is OK but, the beginning...

Thank you!

「鮪」て魚(= 「鮪」という魚);-)

What do you think the fish "鮪" that often appears in Chinese books means?

It must be very large judging from the description of it.

The large and prized fish is...

Seems so simple when you are doing it.

Ah, this 「鮪」って魚(= 「鮪」という魚) : voilà it does make sense now.

Oh, I add a French word. Not really waken up.

I am going to ask you to be my personal teacher!

^^

Could someone approve my comprehension of the following constructions/words?

~まくる
彼はいい学生ながらも、まだビデオゲームが遊びまくっているよ。
Even while he's a good student, he still plays video games all the time.
(I opted for ga instead of wo. How did I do? Also, I have heard both sure and asobu for playing video games, but I opted for asobu.)

-まま
このふくはままでいい?
Are these clothes good as is?
(here I am most likely to fall flat, I'm not used to mama yet at all, it can be tricky)

~っ放し
誰かテレビが徹夜付けっ放しだったの。
Someone left the tv on all night.

No, you can't use が in this case. が indicates the subject of 遊ぶ. で is appropriate here. The rest is OK.👍

-まま
このふくはままでいい?

この服ままでいい?

"まま" acts as a noun.

~っ放し
誰かテレビが徹夜付けっ放しだったの。
Someone left the tv on all night.
誰かテレビ一晩中[ひとばんじゅう]つけっ放しにしてた/してたんだ

だったの/してたの sounds like a female word. Although male can use it in interrogative sentences; だったの?/してたの?

I need a Japanese translation for faith, hope, love (from 1 Cor. 13:13 in bible). Question - see link below. Can this Chinese translation be used for Japanese also?

adoptionbug.com/04_china/15BRH-adult.htm

No. Chinese hanzi and Japanese kanji are not the same, and the translation for faith is different. 信仰 希望 愛 is the Japanese one.

I knew some words are the same, but some are different, and online translation tools were not helpful. Thanks!!!

Why not just use the verse from the Bible? It has been translated to Japanese, you know.

It is a question from JIES :

( )に示した観点から見て、他と性質が異なるものを選びなさい

Then you have diffrent proposition with, what particle you must choose to have a correct sentence.

My try : From the point of view showing in parenthesis, please choose something different between one proposition and the natural meaning.

Weird isn't it...

I googled and found an example of this.
The entry in ( ) is, for example, 「で」の使い方 , and the possible answers are:
① 小銭で支払う。
② 電車で通学する。
③ 自分の部屋で勉強する。
④ ボールペンで書く。
⑤ 手で洗う。

( ) に示した観点から見て = looking at it in terms of what is shown in ( ),
他と性質が異なるものを選びなさい = choose the one which has a different property (性質が異なる) from the others.

Out of the five possible answers shown, in four of them で is being used in broadly the same way, in one it is being used in a different way. None of the answers are incorrect in a grammatical sense.

I ran across this sentence, and this is how I translated it. 翻訳はどう?

「ともかく2人は早くここから逃げるんだ!」
"In some way or another those two got away from here quickly!"

Why did you make it past tense?

The "plain verb + んだ" construction is sort of a command, by the way.

It's the second sentence I'm having trouble with. If someone could break it into parts, it would be a big help

いやあ亜美ちゃんは料理が上手だねえすご〈美味しかったよ
You know, your cooking is really good. Really delicious.
本当だともこれならどこにお嫁に行っても安心だ
本当,だ, とも, これ,なら, どこ,に, お嫁,に, 行って,も, 安心,だ

本当(really) だ(it is) とも (to be sure)
これ (this) なら (if it is true)
どこ,に (wherever) お嫁,に(for purpose of being a wife)
行って(to go),も(?), 安心,だ(peace of mind)

次の文と会話として成り立つ答えの文を、それぞれ1-4から選びなさい

・全部白状しろ。楽になるぞ。

1.本当ですね。この椅子は楽です。
2.信じてください。私は無実なんです。
3.ちょっと朝から頭が痛くて。
4.昨日食べ過ぎちゃいました。胃がムカムカするんです。

Didn't understand the first sentence.
I must choose a sentence and a sentence which is a response but about conversation ?

O_O

2人 refers to "you two".

"The -te form + も"(行っても) is a conditional.

So, what is your translation?

No. The whole clause 次の文と会話として成り立つ modifies 答えの文. 次の文 refers to 全部白状しろ。楽になるぞ。, i.e., literally "the next sentence(s)". Thus, you must choose one sentence from four answers.

So, it may be:

Choose between the next sentences and the responses which are conversation from 1 to 4.

(sorry, I'm a bit tired and slow. it's being quite late)...

Choose the sentence from the four answers, which makes sense as a conversation between the next sentense(s).

(There are several questions of the same structure in the text, aren't there? That's why それぞれ is used here, I suppose.)

Good night.:)

Ahh, good point, not sure why I was thinking in past tense, I have to watch that. In this case...
ともかく2人は早くここから逃げるんだ! "In some way or another, the two of you [need to] quickly escape from here!" Or something like this?
