Need a word or phrase translated?

That's not 何閉めたら but 何閉めたら. The person A asked what he/she should close, not the device/means to close.
私はドアのを閉める代わりに何を閉めたら、いいんですか
鯖をしめる(締める) means "to soak mackerel fillets in vinegar". It's a word play.
A: What should I close instead of the lock on the door?
B: How about mackerel?

Ok, I understand.
Thank you ^^

There are typos/mistakes in the romaji lyrics on the linked site.
Arigatoo gozaimasu minna-san. I will further investigate this stuff and together with the corrections noted will attempt my own translation.

This is usually not my type of music. But I stumbled upon it when checking out the page for the Boredoms. But I must admit it is catchy and the video is bizarrely good.

Hi guys. I'm trying to translate this new announcement about Gundam Age. I'm really not sure about my translation so could anyone double check it?

Hello guys can anyone please helps me 🙂: I want to translate this letter from English into Japanese (hiragana)

Baby, I'm sorry !

My beautiful Daria,

Let me begin by saying that I know this letter will not excuse what I've done. I am prepared to do whatever it takes to earn your forgiveness.

I love you and I can't hide that. I never meant to hurt you and I cannot express enough how awful I feel .

I am sorry for pushing you to be with me even though you asked me not to do so. Please know that my utter lack of judgment and immense stupidity are by no means a reflection of my feelings for you.

It is my hope that you will find this letter to be a reassurance of my respect and admiration, which grow more and more every day we are together.

Most of all, I'm sorry for how this has made you feel.

You are my star. I'll be lost without you.

I cannot imagine my life without you.

I hope you can find it in your heart to try to forgive me. I miss you and want nothing more than to make this right.

With deepest regret,

Kais

Daria is a very unusual name for a Japanese girl.

She is not a Japanese girl but she is a Japanese teacher :)

Oh, now I see!

You want to impress her with what a genuine and sincere guy you are by giving her the letter in Japanese so it looks like you really toiled over it....while in actuality you just go online and have others do the work for you, showing that you probably really are the devious and untrustworthy snake-in-the-weeds she discovered you to be when you "pushed her to be with you" even though she said "no". (Isn't that usually just a nice way of saying "rape" or "sexual assault"?)

You're a very clever fellow!

Go ahead and send her a written admission of the crime so she'll have something concrete to show the judge and you can be sent to a PMITA prison and afterwards spend the rest of your life on the sexual offenders registry and have a sign in your front yard.

My, what a clever fellow.

I am muslim, pushing her was just because I asked her to be my Girlfriend even though I know she broke up with an other guy just before I met her. I was trying to make her take the decision quickly :(

Where did I say I forced myself on her ?

I edited my post to use your actual words, but your reply came prior to finishing the edit. "Pushed you to be with me" despite being told "no" sounds like date rape instead of asking someone to be your girlfriend. I strongly suggest rewording that part.

At any rate, do you plan to tell her the Japanese letter you want is entirely the work of other people? Or do you wish us to be a party to deceiving her?

If she is a Japanese teacher, she would be able to understand this letter.

What difference does being Muslim have on the situation? Somehow that implies to me at least that it forgives you your indiscretions when dealing with a female?!?! You knew she had just broken up with someone and you admit you were trying to force her to make her decision about you "quickly" as well.

To me at least that sounds like you were forcing yourself on her.

Try backing up a bit and try to understand that you really didn't come off too well here and maybe you should try over, with the details, before you ask someone to do you a favor.

Dude you got lucky that Toritoribe is such a nice person.
Thank you KirinMan 🙂: I'll definitely start learning Japanese :emoji_wink:

Either way, good luck, just keep in mind that honesty in a relationship is number 1, let her know that you had someone translate that letter for you. Give her both the English and Japanese copies when you do and let her make her mind up on what she wants.

Do yourself another favor as well, give her time, don't push it. If you do you just might end up being disappointed.

I hope this is not an irony.😌

@ The OP, I ensure my translation is quite correct. But the sentence style is a BIT old, probably a hundred years or so ago. That's why I wrote "if she is a Japanese teacher", i.e., non-advanced learners who don't know classical Japanese might not be able to understand my translation.

I thought it was an absolutely brilliant piece of work.

Oh no, not by any means. Your translation posted while I was in the middle of my reply. I was hoping that he would have come back and rephrased his request but you beat me to the punch! Good show!

Hello :)
I am back :) I had to go offline because it was 3 Am so I had to get some rest to be able to wake up around 8 :)

I'm stuck on the following sentence:

ジャックとの約束は寝ていようが食っていようがいつバトルを仕掛けてもいいってことだからね

I've tried looking around for what "いいってことだからね" means, but I can't find anything, so I'm not sure what's it's trying tosay overall.

I originally got "I made a promise with Jack because I wanted to challenge him to a battle, whether I was sleeping or eating" which is completely off.

Jack and I had a promise to attack (each other), even should the other be found asleep or eating.

Or some reasonable variant of that.

Isn't it more like "My and Jack's promise was that it's alright to start a battle, even should the other be found asleep or eating"? My English is probably a bit off there, but you get the point. In my opinion the nuance is more that they promise each other that it's alright to start a battle whenever, than promising to start a battle whenever.
I know, it's a subtle difference, but in the former case there necessarily doesn't need to be battles, even though it's allowed, whereas in the latter case there will definitely be battles. I confirmed this nuance from a native speaker, just in case, and he agreed. :)

Also, BigBoss4, The "いい" in your "いいってことだからね" is actually a part of "仕掛けてもいい", so you should think about it this way: "仕掛けてもいい" plus "ってことだからね" (ということだからね). That said, the "ってことだからね" is kind of just affirming that "that's the promise we had you know".

There is literal translation and there is functional translation. I also don't have the benefit of knowing any more of the story than that one sentence.

Just what was it about the sentence that gave you trouble anyway?
