My Username in Kanji?

Hello All!



I was wondering if someone might be able to help me translate my username, safetycopy, into kanji? I'd really like to create a little digital hanko to sign various web-related work, but have no idea where to begin with researching kanji and their meanings. Any help or pointers in the right direction would be greatly appreciated!

What do you think? Would there not be something more specific for 'safety' as opposed to 'safe'? Did I choose an appropriate usage of 'copy'? It's all so confusing!

I think 安全コピー is the closest thing to what you want, but コピー isn't kanji (it's katakana). 安全複写 might work if you want all kanji. It may even be better than 安全コピー, but I'm not sure. It's kind of a strange thing to ask to have translated.

It's interesting that that site gave you 護寫 for "safe" and "copy", because the first character is more like "protect" or "safeguard" and the second one, while having a meaning "copy", is the old/traditional form of the above 写. It looks more like something you'd find in Chinese these days (unless you were reading pre-1945 Japanese documents).

I've also looked into translating to romaji, and came up with 'anzensei utsusu'. Do you think I'd be better going for a literal translation based on that?

Hmm... anzensei utusu is really weird. It's a sentence, too, saying you'll copy safety, whatever that could mean.

I probably should have asked this from the outset, but what exactly does "safety copy" mean? Is it a specialized term? For instance, is it something like a backup file? If so, we could be barking up the wrong tree here.

'safetycopy' as my username is a completely made-up word. I was actually inspired by some song lyrics: "safety copies of oneself". In that sense, the concept I'm trying to convey is analogous to a computer back-up, only for people!

When I pasted the pure kanji example you gave me above into kanjidicdotcom it came straight back with 'Safety copy', so that might do me if you think the whole concept is too 'off the beaten track'. I realise this might all seem a little bizarre :-D
