motorcycling in japan

i know this is for cars [suck], but can anyone tell me how motorcyclists are viewed (in japan), especially young/u.s. riders and by different types of people?(singles)

I prefer cars...My cousin in Japan has a motorcycle and he is popular with the girls of course.... But is it any fun for a girl to be a passenger on a motorcycle? Erm...personally I don't like it, especially during turns and the helmet (ruins my hair-do)!!! I prefer a passenger-seat in a nice car!!

My point: motorcycles are cool, I like them as they are masculine-looking, however, being a passenger is a different matter!! Then, I'd go for cars!!! There are many nice cars too!!

I like driving cars and being a passenger in a car...

i dont think itd be much fun for me in a backseat because i need [plenty of] room as far as ******* goes (thats y i have a queenie bed :winklove being in public or outside hurts my motivation, promiscuous as i am- i used to be so in love with my hair styles but the helmet actually doesnt hurt it that much, unless i keep taking it on and off and run out of gel :homer:. besides how much does being a passenger hurt when youre going to the destination in maybe 1/4 of the time(including splitting lanes, and my speeding nature)

Looks aside, getting a license in Japan is a little more difficult. It is not impossible, I passed the course with no problems, but you have to go through a fairly rigorous course. Compare that to the fact that at age 13 I walked in and took the test in the U.S. and walked out with a license! (no driving test at all!)

Driving in Japan is more dangerous though IMHO. Where I am many people don't signal their intensions until the last minute. Taxi's/buses have the right of way and will run you over to take it! Taxi's make u-turns anywhere and slow down anywhere that they see a pedestrian (possible fare!).

You definitely have to be much more alert! But to answer your question, you will not be looked down on. There are many riders in Japan whether it be scooters or motorcycles. As long as you aren't running around acting like one of the bosozoku's you should be fine!

I just read that they've relaxed the no-passengers law on some roads in Japan.
