Hello there. I only got an email with a pass notification of the entrance examination. Not really looked like a certificate. But it was stated in the email that it was informal notification, unofficial version. The formal notification of acceptance and enrollment forms will be then sent on or after July.Hi researcher101,
I think You shouldn't worry about the acceptance letter. As Cony-Nanny posted, the process varies from uni to uni.
In my case, I applied to Waseda University. The uni has already nominated me to MEXT. However, the only document that university sent to me is the certificate of success in entrance examination.
Again, my friend who accepted by MEXT scholarship last semester told me that if the applicant are accepted, the acceptance letter as well as pledge from MEXT will be sent to you via supervisor or head. Moreover, he asked me those general questions about my departure (airport from which I will depart) and about my visa processing too. Now you guys really confused me a lot.I got acceptance letter (only for university) from university via email. I think the processes of announcement and selection are different among university.

Thanx bro...I heard that the result will be out in late part of April...So, hope for the best..Don't worry, I am in the exact same situation as you, it just means that the advisor is confident in a positive result. My advisor told me that the results would be out in April, though.
Thank you very much.It depends on the program that you applied. If you applied to special program, e.g., International Graduate Program (IGP), they will announce the final result around June-July. Otherwise, the result will be out by the end of April.

Last month he confirmed university selection and told me to wait for the final decision which will be published in later part of April most probably. In the meanwhile, he suggested me to prepare for entrance exam as I have to take this exam when I get accepted finally, although I am confused about this.Really? Nice to know. I went through document examination and oral examination in the selection process. I guess so. I sought admission directly through the university. Actually, I was confused because the email sent to me did not specify about the MEXT final decision. The content of the mail said that the formal notification of acceptance and enrollment forms will be mailed by late July.
