Same here, didn't get a confirmation regarding the stipend ( I hope they give a little more than what it is said in the MEXT site because tokyo is really expensive :S).
Just noticed , the letter which I received from the Embassy doesnot mention the stipend amount which I will get per year/month.
Did anyone receive information about it? (Just curious)

Our Embassy told us to contact universities. so I would suggest send an email to the concerned office and find out about dorms and stuff.

I have not received any formal communication from my university since the Japanese embassy in my country confirmed my acceptance to the 2017 MEXT Graduate Scholarship. It has been two weeks already.
Should I send an email to them and ask? Or should I wait? >__<

I've seen tons of videos on YouTube, as well as articles on sites such as JREF, about how to prepare for a trip to Japan. Despite the usual advises (buy medicine beforehand in your homeland; be aware of Japan's weather; be aware that English is not such a commonly spoken language; respect Japanese culture by not being impolite in situations us gaijin usually are; etc.), I understand that since we will all live there for pretty long time, some specific preparations might be in order.
Personally, I'm closing bank, cell phone and general accounts; writing PoAs for specific persons to act on my behalf; getting vaccines; looking for dorms (duh); informing the tax offices of my country about my absence; informing electoral offices (here it's compulsory to vote) as well; waiting to buy Yen at the best price; buying local gifts for my future adviser and people of interest.. and that's all I can remember for now.
What about you guys? Am I missing anything?
Also, I am planning on writing a blog about the application process, specifically for Indian applicants. We can write a blog on Jref right? Anybody else planning to do the same? XD
Even though I say its a blog, it will probably be a very simple write up about the process because I suck at writing such stuff

Which company is this? This is a very nice idea!I'll probably rent a portable wi-fi for a week & pick it up at the airport when I arrive. I'm not sure what my internet situation will be like at my residence so I want to make sure I'm not bereft without contact & google maps haha. It's cheap and convenient, they give you an envelope and you just pop it into the mail when you're done.

OMG, I didn't know I had sooooo many things! It's horrible. I'm a hoarder! XD
So far I have been able to get rid of two fullbig bags of clothes, but I still have to get rid of more.
I do know I'm taking airplane size toothpaste, shampoo and soap. I do not want to have to go to buy all those things on the first day I'm there after 15+ hours of traveling in airplane, plus internal travel, plus walking, plus jet lag XD
A friend also told me that, if you like big bathtowels, you should take one, that the japanese stores usually only sell small sized ones.

I'm curious as to what vaccines you're talking about.
Have you looked into guest houses? They usually do monthly contracts, and vary from studio apartments to shared houses. It might be easier to find something permanent when you're in Japan and if you're struggling you can use the co-op facilities at your university that help with housing. (this is based off anecdotal evidence of friends rather than my own experiences though)
