MEXT Scholarship (Graduate Students) 2017

Congrats Everyone on receiving the final confirmation !!!
I think only in India the embassy is delaying the results the most.
Almost every other country has received the results and I am dying day by day waiting for the results.
Today I called the embassy only to hear that they will give the results only in february as given in the guidelines.
Is there anyone else who has not received the results yet ?

I had a plan B. I started a masters degree in the US in August while waiting for the results. That means I have finished the first semester.
Having a plan B made the world of difference to me in this year's application. I woould recommend you have one.

Don't want to be a downer but usually an American MA outweighs a Japanese degree in terms of employ-ability and general recognition (in North America). Are you leaving the MA program?

Thank you for your concern, but a Japanese MA outweights an Amecon one for my future plans.
 
Congratulation to us whose result was positive, I truly believe that those who are still waiting on their result it will be positive as well. So I guess this is the proper moment to create a e-group on Whatsapp or something, it will be good to us to continue exchanging experience in a more efficient way.

If you intend to join the group just send me a private message and I will create it on Whatsapp (if there is a more convenient social network please let me now).

I think most of the people here use Line and it would be a good idea to create a group on Line.

Hopefully by that you mean that your degree is exclusive to Japan and that your future plans involve a career in Japan (speaking only Japanese). In all other cases, most MAs from USA are more highly recognized worldwide. But I'm sure you've checked all that;)

I have not received any formal communication from my university since the Japanese embassy in my country confirmed my acceptance to the 2017 MEXT Graduate Scholarship. It has been two weeks already.

Should I send an email to them and ask? Or should I wait? >__<
 
Hey guys! I GOT MY CONFIRMATION TODAY~~~~ yaaaaaayyy! i'l be going to Japan in October~~
I got the confirmation from the Embassy xD (Indian applicants who are reading this thread will probably know who I am now lol )

Regarding the group, I would prefer a Facebook group because Line and whatsapp keep giving these notifications and its not easy to follow whats going on in the group and you have to read tons of messages.

Our Embassy told us to contact universities. so I would suggest send an email to the concerned office and find out about dorms and stuff.

CONGRATULATIONS! :)

I do agree with you regarding the group. In the long run, it just seems easier to follow what is going on within a facebook group.

I'm fine with reactivating my fb account in order to join the group, but I'd just like to point out that you can choose not to receive notifications for groups in whatsapp. That's what I do with my family group, as good old auntie won't stop sending angel pics with motivation messages in sparkling comic sans.

Who's still waiting for the results? Or has everyone got somehow contacted?

I know about the notification stuff, I just said that its easier to follow whats going on in a FB group because you can see the posts XD
 
If the majority prefers Line or whatsapp , i will delete the facebook group :)

Line might be the best option seeing it is very similar to FB and its used very commonly in Japan, whoever makes the group please post here. I will send you my ID :D

Don't! I don't believe one measure is an obstacle to the other, and you've convinced me on reactivating my facebook account and seeing pictures of 3 years ago. Once I get home, I'll gather the courage to face the irreparable mistakes of my past, and thus seek redemption. Or I'll just make a new account. Btw, CONGRATS!

Haha, I deleted almost all of my horrible-teenage-posts on facebook too!

@Hamdi has joined the group and is a moderator there so we have 2 active forum members to accept requests :D hope to see everyone there !

First of all congratulations Indojin, the suffering is over xD, thanks for making the facebook group, I just sent my request to join, and about a LINE group I think we can use both so no problem there.
 
Just noticed , the letter which I received from the Embassy doesnot mention the stipend amount which I will get per year/month.

Did anyone receive information about it? (Just curious)
