I have an international unlocked cellphone, Do you know if it would work?New mobile phones from abroad should work in Japan, you should be able to sign a contract with a carrier, but afaik the plans are limited if you have your own phone. For example, you could get unlimited data if you get a phone from the carrier, but you can't if you don't. I'm by no means an expert in Japanese carriers, so you might better ask here on this forum or research on your own if you want to be sure what you're heading into. I plan to get a mobile phone from a carrier.
Yes, I have used a GSM phone in Japan. You have to sign up on the Docomo network, and it is expensive (8000yen/mo last time I checked), but on the bright side, if you have an Android phone on this plan, you are allowed to use tethering and get Wifi everywhere.I have an international unlocked cellphone, Do you know if it would work?
Bringing $2000 USD for the first month is a smart choice, especially if you will be in Tokyo. You will need roughly that much money for living expenses, books, commuting, and paying rent.Guys, are you all bringing sum of 2 000 USD as they stated in guidelines?
I don't know much, they do have some links: Dormitories | Student Support | Prospective Students | Tokyo Institute of TechnologyHi, I found this forum a little late but any ways I only received my embassy confirmation today and those still waiting there is still hope
Btw those going to Tokyo Tech do you know anything about applying for dormitories ?
Thanks
I think they only pay for the plane ticket from the airport closest to the address given on your application. So that would probably mean you either fly back to that address first, or just buy your own ticket straight to Japan. Sorry to hear your situation :-/MEXT is absolutely strict regarding only paying for your flight if you depart from home country, correct? I'm working abroad, just about 1/3 world away from both Japan & my home country... so thinking that I'll be paying for my own expensive flight. great.
Hi!Hello everybody. Is anyone knows about the flight itinerary? Maybe when is the probably date of departure?. Thank you so much.
In about 2 month we will be in Japan. That's is starting to make me feel nervous and excited at the same time. How about you?
I'm sorry to hear that, But Let's hope its April 2 for you.Congratulation Igr.
I feel sad because the 1th of April is the birthday of my grandmother. But still I don't know my itinerary. Hopefully is one day later.
